I went Excel shopping yesterday. Of course I found one that I really liked, no make that loved (knew I would). My question is: How much were you other owners able to negotiate a good sale price. This is the unit of my dreams but I'm just not sure how much to go in debt since I just retired. (28 yrs as a cop doesn't make the greatest retirement)
Any advice would be helpful.

Limericc,
From what I have seen, I think the norm is somewhere between 17 and 20 percent off the MSRP. I guess it all depends on how hungry the dealer is.

The one I fell in love with was the 35MKO. Do you love yours?

Agree with Bob on the % of discount. The 35MKO model is one of the most popular. We are very pleased with the layout and the DW loves her island kitchen area.

Limericc,
We love the MKO. So far, we have never seen anything we would rather have. The four slide-outs give you lots of room and open space. If I had to change one thing I don't know what it would be. The 05s and older have the butterfly sink, the new ones have the rectangular sink. This was done to allow the sink to be below flush with the counter top. I would have preferred that they found a way to do that and keep it in the corner butterfly arrangement. At any rate that is a very small thing. They just have so much space to work with.

We were able to negotiate close to 20% off MSRP. The dealers first price was only 12% off MSRP...we told him "no thanks." Later in the day, they called back and offered the 20%. We put them off until the next day while we received quotes from some other Excel dealers.

We agree with the other guys on the 35MKO, just a great workable setup! The only downside for old folks like us is the extra step up to the bedroom. Have you checked the new 36TKE with the one level upstairs floor?

I was able to get 28% off the msrp. I shopped three dealers and went with the best price. All negotiation was done by phone and fax.

The dealer where I purchased mine was in Wisconson. They now sell Teton and not Excel. I traveled from NY to Wisconsin to pick it up, but the price was worth the travel. As far as service I always went to the factory. I just planned ahead and stopped there when we were close.

26% off MSRP......but ours was special ordered and an "in & out" deal. No floor on this one! Tom
