Just checking to see if anyone has one yet and how do they like it? Also, with the extra area in the back, does this unit have the same insulation properties as their "regular" unit....i.e is it still warranted to down to minus 10? Also, what kind of interior does this unit compare to....rt/classic/limited interior? Thanks

Aarondeere,
We saw one a couple of days ago in Ft.Collins. I'll answer as much as I can on this subject. I think I saw the -10* decal on the toyhauler. The roof line goes straight back to the rear making the living area have high ceilings which made the living area seem bigger. The interior appeared to me as limited style quality. The bed above the toyhauler portion was nice, but you're really close to the Fantastic Fan (right over the center of bed) up there. Wonder if it would be noisey for sleeping while running? Looked like it even had an area for a small TV up there in the loft. The triple axles had 16" GY Wrangler tires and drum brakes. Maybe be being a bit pickey, but thought it was odd that the shower had a small headed white plastic shower head! Looked cheapy. All other (6) new 2008 Excels we saw had the typical metal shower head.
We have no need for a toyhauler, but if I were, I'd be looking at this one. Nice, upscale unit.

Thanks for the info. I guess since they are new they'll get more info on their website as time goes on. I've looked at toyhaulers before but never really got to interested in them since the interiors were usually made of cheaper materials and there were really never any "upscale" units. This unit along with Newmars unit seem interesting. My wife and I are expecting our first child and are planning to have another down the road and I see this floorplan being very versatile. I have a four wheeler and would be nice to bring along for some camping trips but most likely the garage would be used to put a couch in and an extra sleeping area for kids/visitors. I've also looked at bunkbed models but they are very limiting whereas this unit is much more versatile in using it as storage/bedroom/garage. I like the screen setup where you could make that into a kind of porch. This may be an option down the road. One more thing, do you remember what kind of roof material was used fiberglass/rubber? From what you said it looks like they based this unit off their limited series which is great for my interest. Again thanks. Aaron

The roof on the one I looked at was fiberglass. Like I said it went straight back from the front.
Makes me so mad cause I forgot my camera! I usually take it everywhere!

Aaron;
The "Wild Cargo" isn't really based on any one particular line of Excel product. Our goal is to create an UPSCALE coach that have as many ammenities as possible for full time living, such as the Limited, yet we knew that building a full scale 40' triple axle Limited in a SURV would drive the price beyond what most family members would deem reasonable for such a unit.
The cabinets are all hard wood, available in either oak or Brazilian Cherry stained maple. Linoleum kitchen flooring, toughstone countertops, etc. The box springs under the mattress are optional, as are many of the Limited features.
The coach has a rubber roof. Down the road a year or two, IF sales surge on the WC then we might look into investing in the molds to make the roof fiberglass. The cost was just too prohibitive at this stage.
As with all of our product lines, the WC is wood framed and carries the MINUS 10 DEGREE GUARANTEE, so it truly can be lived in year round in cold climates.
Our plan is to taylor to the needs of our family members, so we will be fairly flexible with what you want to do in the garage. The only parts that we can't currently change are the ramp door, and the taper (beaver tail) in the last 2' of the floor. We could, however put linoleum or carpet on the floor, build beds, cabinets, etc. in that area.
We feel that our WC is going to appeal to a certain class of buyer, just as the rest of our product line does. And that buyer has unique needs and desires. That's why we want to be as flexible as possible.
I hope this answered some of your questions.
Bryan

Aaron,
Thanks to Bryan for the update. Sorry I gave bad info on the roof material. We looked at a lot of Excels that day and and apparently I was seeing things! Tom

Rock and Aaron,
I took my camera to the factory for the unvailing of the unit and have place several pictures on our web site if you wish to view them. Our site is www.bobandjosrv.com and will be under the New Units, then under the high lited "new unit inventory". I have two seperate listings on the unit as One will only take 8 pic's at a time. Hope this allows some to view the unit. We since then have received the unit into our inventory and it is showing very well.

I am very taken with the rig, looks like it will fit the bill for us toy owners. The rubber roof surprised me but then again it already weighs quite a bit and rubber does last very well. Now if the bank account were a bit bigger, which is the "fly in the ointment" for me, it would be very easy to buy one. However, if I could talk the factory into putting me in one at a very reduced price I would travel to racetracks, (talk about hard work), throughout the Country and market it. Then again one can dream . Phil

Thanks so much Bryan for the information. That answers the questions I have so far. I'll have to take a look at them at next local rv show. I like the way you approached the market with the WC. With other mfgs units I've seen I've been turned off with the flashy, bright graphics and focus on "hard core" atv dirt bike riders along with cheap cabinetry and materials. I wouldn't be using your unit to its full or intended capacity but I think this floorplan looks so versatile. I like to hear that you could customize it some more also. I'm not in the market now; especially with a child on the way but possibly in the next few yrs. I like my current 5er but next go around I want to upgrade in quality and go with a four seasons unit that will allow us to camp throughout winter which will work better with my work schedule. Thanks so much and rockintom, no problem with the info. I would get that way after seeing so many units. Oh yeah, Bryan why is it that the shower head is plastic like rockintom saw at the show? Thanks Aaron

Oversight!
After reading the earlier post by rockintom, I went in to purchasing and told them to phase out the white shower faucets and bring in either chrome or polished. They will be phased in over the next few months.
BT
ps... If you order today Aaron, I'll personally oversee changing that shower head for you

If you'll change out the shower head I'll put my order in today I do have one more question that came to mind. Will you have the self leveling system as an option? I didn't know if a unit this long with 3 axles would pose a problem. Thanks Aaron

Bryan must be out to lunch (again). I took a look at the options and yes the Independent Leveling System is a options on the Wild Cargo. Something that we would recommend as well would to place the Elec. Rear Stabilizer Jacks on as well. Reason being, with the ILS, the rear Jacks are not to far behind the rear axles. With the added Jacks on the rear, and this being right at 40ft., this will give you a 6 point of Stabilization. (2 in the front, 2 in the mid/rear, and the final 2 in the most rear.). Hope this answers your question on the leveling system.
