Took out the flourescent light in the soffit area and put 12ft of 12V clear rope light around the perimeter of the soffit. Then added some doo-dads up there and it's lookin' pretty good. Figure I'll use some pieces of velcro to hold things in place when we travel. I have some 5W G4 Halogen bulbs on order to replace the 10W in the bar lights. I think those are too bright as they glare into the living room and are distracking while watching TV. You have to double click on the pic to enlarge it to get a more detailed look. What do you think? rockin'

It looks great. Do you think the 5W bulbs will give enough light to see clearly there? Don't forget you are getting older.

You'd better get the industrial strength Velcro for the wine bottles. Oh wait, they'll be empty be the time you move. Right?

Tim

Now-Now Timo.....The bright lights are the 2" halogen ones and they are too bright under the bar. Besides, I don't read on the bar counter.......I simply can "feel" my way around!!!! Yep, I do use industrial strength velcro up there on all item in the soffit.....although I rotate my inventory on a regular basis!!!

Nice job Rockin'!

We have the rope lights installed also and use it as a nite light in the evening. We use double back tape for some things above the cabinets and for the driftwood, just a mounting board. Have no idea what they do while travelin' down the road....but still there when we arrive.

That looks great! You might consider Loctite Fun-Tak (Mounting Putty Repositionable Adhesive Directions from Loctite Adhesives) to secure your stuff. We get ours at Wal-Mart and use it everywhere!

Thanks. I'll check it out. Most of the stuff we've mounted up there in our past rigs is industrial strengh Velco and it work pretty good. You do have to be careful with removing it though as it can take the paper off the wallboard.

Do you have to use new putty each time you take the item off or is it reuseable?

The nice thing about the blue putty is it doesn't damage anything. We've used it on the wooden surfaces as well as the walls. Although it doesn't work quite as well on vertical surfaces. You don't need new putty each time; we're re-used it a couple of times with no problems. Another alternative is the 3M Picture Hanging Strips (available at Wal-Mart, Office Supply Stores, and Home Improvement Stores). They come in multiple sizes and also cause no damage whatsoever on the walls.

Just google "earthquake putty" and find a store near you. We hang things on the wall with it and it stays in place even when moving. New have mounted two extra fire alarms with it and they even stay in place. It never leaves a marks on e wood or walls. Great stuff!

Looks GREAT! Sure does a nice job of accenting. I did kind of the same thing over the top of the livingroom slide. When you look at it from outside at night the light reflects off the mirrored cabinet doors in the dining area and makes the interior look about 50' long. Ah yes what you can do with mirrors.
