first long trip with our Excel

We are planning our first long trip with our Excel. Been waiting for this for 2 years. We are leaving about the 3rd week of May heading for Yellowstone/Tetons. Then on to Glacier, Idaho, Washington/Seattle, etc. (whew!) Does anyone have tips, advice or comments about campgrounds in the Jackson Hole/ Tetons area?

Man, it's too bad Jack Stark isn't on the forum. We met him while he was getting his Excel repaired at Smith Center last summer. Jack was the Superintendent of the Grand Tetons NP for 12 years.

Sorry we can't help. If you decide to go to West Yellowstone, Grizzly gets a lot of good comments. Lionshead is about 7 miles west of West Yellowstone, has large sites and (when we were there two years ago), would let you wash your trailer. Do enjoy that trip! David

We stayed at Gros Ventre Campground north of Jackson. Very nice dry camping.

Rifle Gap State Park in CO offers a nice stop too.

It has been 20 plus years since I was that far west. As a flat lander from 'more cold' than I'ld like Florida...only wish I could give advice on where to stay. Sounds like a great first long trip!

Sounds like a very exciting journey, I have never been in that locale with a RV so I wasn't looking for camp grounds. You might consider asking your question in the forum's Camping Locations & Information section. Good luck and keep counting those months and days!
