Posting in case this happens to you (I didn't find an earlier post on this). We'd been noticing our frig would drop off gas when we put the kitchen slide in on our GKE. We'd restart it and all would be OK. Then the gas stove died. Got under the slide and found the rubber gas line kinked. Cut the ties and repositioned, moved the kitchen slide in and out several times to ensure it's OK, and retied. So far, no issues but I've been crawling under there after we've moved the slide and checked just in case (I'm an amateur at this fixin' stuff). I know, I know: pictures!! David

Good catch Dave...just proves that there is always something that can be added to or looked at on the semi-annual inspection.

Here is a link I did, hard to believe two years ago, 32.__Propane System Overview: 2001 33RLE. As implies, an overview of my system but should relate to areas on current units as well as things one should look at.

Sorry that some of the LINKS are no longer current or have been changed...as I can't EDIT the post any longer...we have what we have!!!!

I will eventually be posting at least two post in the future on my propane system. One on the damaged gas line that was found behind the Pantry slide, found while looking for a way to remove the pantry when Jim & Bona asked a question on how it could be removed.

Hopefully this might cause others to look at their flex gas lines, if equipped.

Good info David,

I had issues on my '10 L33 RSO, but not kinking the flexhose. My hose would rub the vertical tin cover that encloses the rear framed area (just behind the fresh water tank. I took pics but can't find them right now. I will post when I I do. I think in time it would have rubbed a hole in the hose. My unit only has the refer that is in the slide, so that's the only thing I had to deal with. More later, rockin'

OK here a few pix......I didn't take pix of the fix of the tin metal shield which I did with fender washers on the attaching bolts. One pic shows the iron gas pipe repostioning and of course readjustment to the sliding piece.

I've had these bolt holes break out on my other Excel too. When you move the jacks around......this sheet metal flexes big time. The fender washers (10) seem to support it pretty good. rockin'

Similar/dissimilar for me. LP moves in and out of the frame with the slide. That hole was too small and not aligned with the pipe, particularly as the slide moved up and down at the end of deployment.

Scrape scrape now. Hiss hiss in the future.

Took a lot of cutting and banging and bending to open the hole and realign.

Just FYI here's what they do on the later models....I think they made this change in '08 sometime...as the slide goes in and out the gas pipe goes up and down a little due to the ramp on the slides. I had to make an adjustment on mine as it was rubbing a bit. Just relocated the clamps that hold the pipe to the vertical slide wall. rockin'

P.S. This mainly pertains to RSE and RSOs....with the refer in the slide. Back in the old days, 2004 and older, they ran the flex gas hose outside the frame. Didn't work so good!!! Long and kinky!!! OMG!!!

When you get a cutting torch to open up the frame like mine....might want to remove the black iron gas pipe first. Heat and propane don't mix!!!
