We were to go and have our slides adjusted at Couler Valley in Dubuque, our Excel dealer but life changes so quickly. We listened to the local news this morning to find out that Dubuque was hit with almost a foot of rain last night that caused massive local flooding. The dealer's lot is not on the river but close enough we decided to call and check how they were doing. Not so well, they said they have never seen anything like it. The water was 5 ft from the door of the offices and they have lost some trailers including some Excels. Needless to say we will wait for our work. The weather this year has been crazy. We should all keep them in our prayers as they recover.

We are about 60 miles SE of there in NW IL, just bought some parts there a couple weeks back. We've had a foot of rain in the last couple days, including a couple local funnel clouds. It took 45 minutes to make to 10 mile journey to Stockton via 4x4 via rutted roads where 90% of the bridges being washed out to close those roads. We drove roads I haven't been on since my teenage days just to find a passable route around the state police roadblocks. We seen several semi's washed 150 yards downstream last night when they crossed flooded roadways. We will sit tight in out Excel with 5' deep ruts in our 1/4 mile driveway until the storms slow up and allow repairs to be made to allow the water-soaked limestone gravel to firm up. Glad we have water & power here as 50 miles to the east 23,000 folks were without power overnight. We can afford to sit tight & eat out of the garden for a few days.

During the storm this walnut tree was struck for the 3rd time less than 100' from our coach. I hate the sizzle before the boom! It blew chunks of bark in all directions, missing our coach by 10 feet!
