just a heads up that you might want to check on your coach. our outside compartment doors are great, nice and thick, well insulated.....better than most others. but i stumbled across a weakness in the way the frames are fastened. the issue is with the screws in the bottom sill. 2 of mine were broken off and the heads stuck back in the holes. seems that rain water lays in my sills because they lean to the inside after the screws were tightened....some over-tightened. when i swept the water off, 2 heads popped off !! then i noticed some others were run in crooked. i looked under the inside of the sills......yep, soaking wet. hopefully i caught this in time before any major rot sets in. after drying out with a heat gun, i'll be replacing all the bottom screws with stainless and sealing the holes with silicone. there was no sealant put on at the factory. might try to reshim sills to slope them out. also, the outside flange along the bottom is not sealed....more silicone. check yours out, see what you find......mjf

hey rockin'.....hope my post helps avoid a future disaster for someone else...... and headaches for brian. not really a big deal if you catch it early on. as far as the hotrods go, i'll need to live to 150 to finish some. just lucky for me i have place to store them and they don't eat anything. my pride-n-joy is a 1930 plymouth model "u" 4 door sedan. all original uncut body on original boxed frame rails with small block modified corvette running gear. mustang 2 front and corvette independent rear suspension. rides like a dream with a longer wheelbase than a model a ford. has heat, ac, stereo ect. have to keep dw comfortable you know. just have to finish the interior and a little paint work. its a driver.....real hotrods have bug splatters and stone chips. also have my first car.....'54 ford convertable. courted the dw in that one.....told her the heater didn't work so she should sit close. after 42 yrs, i wonder if she still believes that. have a couple old corvettes, some english sports cars, chevy el-camino, monte-carlo ss aerocoupe, and some 1920s stuff.....remember, he who dies with the most toys wins. i don't think i'm in the running yet, but i'll keep trying........mjf

Thanks for the details Mitch.......spent my career in the auto service arena so love old iron. Had alot of cars and truck (quit counting in 1981 and have had 41 ) Refurbished 2-55 Chevs posts, ans 60 Corvair 700. Used to work on old Corvettes and was trained on the C6 prior to retirement in 2005. Enough of this stuff for now or we'll be accused of being OT! rockin'

I will pull my screws and re-seal. Also, the door skins are not sealed very well and allow water behind the skin, down the inside of the door and out the weep holes in the bottom of the door frame. Has anyone sealed the door skin around the frame? And, my battery compartment door had no drain holes in the bottom of the door frame, sure enough I drilled drain holes and out came the water!

Wow! It looks like you guys are on to something. Quality control inspectors at the factory might have to step it up a bit.
