Chief John, Remember reading that your were having a connector installed in front of excel
for generator usage. Would you mind sharing the process and how does it work for you? Was it a 50 or 30 AMP connection? Does its installation compromise any of the wiring in the front of the Excel? Should only Excel perform the service. I am interested so I can use my two H2000's with the adapter while sitting in the TV bed. Questions, Questions,.... Also read that securing the generators from theft has many not too successful stories. Have you found a way the the H200's can be secured to the truck bed? Many thanks, Maverik

Maverik,
We had the folks at SC install--50amp receptacle. Jack's assistant, Ed, was in charge of the Excel production electrical shop before he moved to the Service Center. Professional install--when you plug into either the front or rear receptacle, the system activates that receptacle and deactivates the other receptacle automatically. Only one of the receptacles can be hot at anytime -- prevents the accidental connection of two power sources.

We also have two Honda 2000's in the bed of our truck. What we did to secure them was to drill a hole in the truck bed on either side of each generator for threaded rods. The rods were bolted underneath the bed, then we have a wooden bar that goes underneath the handle of each generator with a hole on each end that slips over the threaded rods. Each end is then tightened down with a wing nut.

This setup serves two purposes...it keeps the generators in one place as we travel, and thwarts theft. It's not that the generators couldn't be stolen, but it would take the thief some time to undo everything. Since theft is usually a crime of opportunity, the thief would probably move on to an easier, quicker target.

When we're unhooked from the rig, we do have a locking tonneau cover over the bed, so the generators aren't visible.
