And 4 years from now he will get to buy 8 new tires instead of 4, but it won't be frumpy inside.

Bob,
You're right about the "8 tires" -- Michelin recently announced a new wide tire that replaces the dually set on MHs. That also means new wheels for the super singles. The X One XRV -- haven't heard any pros/cons, other than the 22.5 wheel size.

Michelin states:
"The ultra-low profile wide base tire designed to replace duals in recreational vehicle applications.

Engineered to replace duals on highway and regional trailer axle fitments.

Features Michelin's patented Infini-Coil technology™, incorporating a 1/4 mile of steel cable to help eliminate casing growth and ensure a consistent footprint.

Reduces energy consumption and unsprung vehicle weight.

Offers new degrees of freedom for recreational vehicle manufactuers to include additional storage space.

Improved maneuverability in campgrounds to get into those tight spaces."

Virg,
The thread is on RV.net here -- the poster thinks the Excel interiors could use a make over?

From reading the link, it looks like "LT" is leaning in the right direction. Brian, a surprise email from you may seal the deal for him.

An Excel with frumpy interior?? I didn't know that!! I will admit that they have had a couple of colors that I didn't like, but wouldn't fall into the "frumpy" category. If you want to see frumpy interior look into some of the entry level trailers, now that's what I call "frumpy"!!
