Here is my very recent experience with fuel additive.
From Wednesday June 6th until Monday June 11th, we drove (bobtail) from Suches, GA to Akron, OH and back. I had not used any additive for a couple tanks. On this trip covering over 1300 miles, we used Power Service (gray bottle) additive. I used the cruise control at 65mph consistently. The onboard computer showed around 10.8 mpg average on the way up. I cleared the board in Akron and on the way back we averaged 11.6 mpg. I think I'll continue to use the additive for a while.

Power Service is a great product. I have been using it for years, started out using it in farm equipment. Not only does it increase your fuel mileage and lubricate things it also helps get rid of water in your fuel tank by emulsification. At any rate, I have always thought it was worth what it cost

Virgil, is the "gray bottle" the product "Diesel Kleen +Cetane Boost"? Sounds like a great additive that my Mack could use in his diet. Now, where to find it?

That's the one. I see it in every Wally World. I paid $15.60 per gallon.
I think it was worth the money.

Thanks Virgil -- did you notice that we have another one of those "Volvos" as a member of our forum? "farmer g" from Charleston, MO.

Guys,

I use the one in the white bottle, but you can get both at Tractor Supply for $12.28 a gallon.

"Dave" on the HDT forum (whose opinion I value)says he doubts it made that much difference but that it was worth is for the lubricity. Sounds good to me. And Bob, thanks very much for the Tractor Supply lead. Sounds like a "by the case" purchase is in order for me.

John, I did notice farmer g. Glad to have another HDTer as well as a fellow Volvo owner.
