Wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
We always shut the furnace off when we go to bed since we seldom see freezing temps here in South Texas. Our furnace is the two stage and heats the trailer very nicely. During the initial morning burn, which can last 30-45 minutes, we notice a haze developes in the air. It's noticeable when the sunlight begins streaming thru the windows. My wife calls it "smoke" but I'm not sure that's the case. Although it does look like smoke there is no odor whatsoever. I know everyone's first thought would be carbon monoxide but I have 2 monoxide detectors and neither one have ever gone off. We also have never experienced headaches or anything abnormal. Any thoughts?
TIA for any responses.

I would give Jack a call at customer service and see what he thinks.

One thing that does happen with furnace is the New Burn off.... there is a oil residue that is on the furnace burner tubes that will cause a smoke look in the trailer... Typically when it first new it will cause enough smoke to set off the Smoke Detectors, but will be get better with a little time... If you have not run the furnace all that much, my guess would be this...
One thing you can do is during the day, open up the trailer, the door, a couple of windows, and maybe a couple of roof vents... Turn the furnace on so that if runs for a longer period of time and cycles a few times.... Then see what you may have the next morning.
Let us know what you think and what may happen...

Thank you for your responses. I would also like to let everyone know that we absolutely love our Excel and it is our full time home. As with any trailer there are always going to be some issues that need to be addressed and I usually come to a forum such as this looking for ideas or answers. Being able to glean information from others who live as we do is an invaluable source of ideas and answers.
I was at the service center in Kansas back in October for some other warranty issues and Jack did not think the haze was anything to worry about as long as the monoxide detector was not going off. He also thought it was a new furnace issue that would eventually work it's way out. We've owned the trailer since June 2008 and I think we have used the furnace well
past the new burn off period. I will be back through the service center in April and will discuss it more then.
Wrongway - I just looked at your profile since I saw the tag at the bottom of your post denoting Guthrie Center and realized I bought this trailer from you. I never called you about this because I knew I was going through Smith Center last fall. I had a major warranty issue that had to be done at the factory. We are fortunate enough that Smith Center is pretty much on the way to our winter home.
I'm getting off topic - I better shut up
Later.......

Hello Rick.
Do you also get any condensation building up on the windows as you start heating up the trailer in the morning? If so, a dehumidifier may help. Another thought is it could be dust that has settled out in the furnace ducting overnight that is getting stirred up when you start running the furnace.
Could be I am way off base too, which has been know to happen. Good luck.

Rick and LaVonne... Hope that this issue gets figured out and give us a call as well if you are not getting answers from Excel as well. Again, I think it is just the Oil Burn off on the furnace. Thanks for your business, Tom

New furnaces are shipped with a coating on the heat exxchanger that has to burn off. Normally it is a matter of 10 minutes or less and open the windows while it burns off. There may be a small amount of smoke. After the furnace has been out of use for a time, it will accumulate dust on the heat exchanger and will have a slight smell when it is fired up. This is usually much less of an experience than a new furnace.
I generally recommed that someone with a new RV, fire the furnace and open all of the doors and windows and let it burn off before you need it in cold weather. Every winter, I will fire the furnace at home and the trailer when the weather starts to cool off, but not cold, so that it is no problem to open the doors and windows.
