Furnace with a squeal

Furnace problem. Can you help? I have a 1992 Excell Legacy 28.5Ft (25th aniversary model) L285CL. The furnace makes a terrible noise, like something need lubricating. The frunce is Hydro Flame II . Can it be taken apart with out being removed? If it has to come out how can I access the area where the heat ducts are conected? I can't find anyway to get to the back of the furnace. Help please.

rhome,

I don't understand......we addressed this issue with you way back in 8-16-09. Has something changed from last year? Based on the info given, we believe you need a new blower motor. Sure hope you get your rig fixed. rockin'

Don't remember if this has a 2 part blower but if it does you may have a problem with the lower blowers set screw has come loose and allowed the fan to drop a 1/2 inch on to the metal cage (Causes a very loud screaching metal to metal noise). If you can reach through the bottom of the cage and with a finger push it up then it has come loose. MAKE SURE THE FURNACE IS OFF. You will see a small hole in the side of the case, using a LONG HEX(Allen) wrench the size I don't rember right now, then with the other finger lift the fan up an insert the Allen wrench through the hole and through the fan blades. You may have to repeat this a few times until you get the wrench, fan blades and set screw lighned up. Then tighten it up. Hope this helps. If you need more info PM me

I read the posts from last year and fully understand his frustration. Some of his questions went unanswered. Maybe this time around he will get the answers he is looking for. I will say that my furnace squeals a few seconds before its ready to shut down. I guess this is normal I dunno.

DW squeals for a few seconds, "I'm cold. I'm cold."

Then I turn it on.

Furnace squeel Solved!

Thanks for your replys. The motor was replaced today. 95 degrees F here today. Good time to fix the furance.

The Hydro flame II seens to now be called Hydro flame 8500 IV.
A schematic can be found at atwoodmobile.com Go to Heating systems, Manuals.

The furnace does not need to be removed. The repair can be made through the furnace door. This is not an easy DIY job.
