Power cord

Libro here's the pix of my "adapter" cord. Gets me from the 240v outlet on the Robin to the 50amp 240 plug on the end of the Excel's shore power cord.

Great chat Steve. Just for info to others who might wish to benefit from discussions here.

As I suspected you are wired correctly with 2 power legs @ 120v ea with 20 A per leg. But this limits any leg to 20A and could cause load imbalance and one leg of 20A might be insufficient at times. Depending on the load.

Hence, 20A per leg is likely marginal so if you use your adapter for 30A service from the 50A cord on the RV and rig it to plug into your 120v 30A twist connecter it will be the same as being plugged into a campground 30A service. With the switch in the 120v mode both fields of the genny stator will have the same current draw and the load would be balanced.

Best way to go in my opinion.

Regards

Bruce

120v 30a

Enjoyed the conversation Bruce. And I believe you are on to something!

Found all the fixin's right in the "ole scrap box". Next time i have the fork lift in the vicinity of the Robin generator I'm gonna hook the Excel up to the 120v 30amp plug and see how it works. Here's some pix of the new "adapter" made with store bought items.

Just found this thread and thought that everyone reading this would be interested in two other posts on IRV2. I also would like to run my AC off a Honda EU2000.

I talked to Micro Air tech this morning and apparently they have sold quite a few of these Easy Starts to people for use in campers and motor homes with success. Ordered one and will install it as soon as possible.
