When I ordered my 33RSE as our first FT RV, I paid for a gen box installed, thinking that I might get one later and then could not install the box. Turned out to be my only mistake. I have never wanted an inboard generator. But now I'm stuck with the genbox.
Later bought 2 Honda 2000s and mounted them to the back of the truck. Seldom used the parallel kit cause, like Jim & Bona said, we move away from hot and cold.
Just sold the second 2000. One is enough to use and maintain.

Thanks for the replies. This forum site is really great !!
I just ordered the 2 champion 2000 inverter generators from Costco and the parallel kit. The champion 2000 watt generators are $529.00 at Cosco which is more expensive than their higher wattage champion generators. Normally 2000 watts is plenty for me as I can power every thing I need in my 5th wheel with the exception of the air conditioner. Living in Edmonton, Canada, I hardly use my AC. I found that my Yamaha 2000 watt generator would not power my log splitter which is 15 amps which I believe is about 1600 watts. From the research I have done, these 2000 watt champion generators are comparable to Yamaha and Honda but at half the price. They are new though, so only time will tell.

I think it all depends on what you are planning. We have an Onan on board 5500 gas generator and we love having it! But we do a lot of traveling in the summers and frequent boondocking so we have put it to good use. We have an invertor and 4 batteries so that powers everything but the air. we have a battery monitoring system so if we see they are getting low we just push the button and start the generator to recharge!!! And never have to step outside. We are spoiled now so it is the perfect setup for us. And we have a 6 gallon gas tank and it lasts a good while and wee can fill it up when we stop to fil up the truck when we are traveling.

'Nother factor not mentioned above - weight and storage. Them gas and propane gennies weigh coupla hundred pounds more than a 2000. And take up similarly more space. Somethin' to consider for us fulltime fellas.

Thanks so much.

Probably better off selling/trading the 1000 watt for a second 2000 watt if you need the extra power. Be aware that many of the smaller generators are stolen. They are a hot item. I had one stolen years ago, and now I tie them down with a heavy security chain.

Your log splitter is 1800 watts, (120 X 15 amps)
