Going to Excel Factory

Needing some repairs on our trailer and heading up for a mid Nov appt. staying at the bed and breakfast which sounds nice. But would appreciate any suggestions for something to do while we are waiting, maybe something more interesting than a big ball of twine. Hopefully the weather will not be too disagreeable.

Now there's a challenge! Don't forget the center of the lower 48 states.

We've stayed at the B&B. It's definitely the best thing in town, unless you stay at Bryan's crib!!!! We like the second cup on Main St. in town. The locals come in and share all the town gossip in the AM. What a hoot. Good breakfast too. Decent Mexican food where Duffy's used to be....Las Canteras I think. Not fabulous, but decent with good service. Jiffy burger is cheap and an experience. It's always fun to get to know other Excel owners that are there too. We made some lifetime long friends there. Nice service lounge to be in. That's about it, my friend! Enjoy rockin'

Thanks all

We will enjoy ourselves no matter what. We kinda like the rural atmosphere and generally enjoy meeting the locals.

You may even run into Vaughn Peterson at Paul's. Great man to have coffee with.. We hope to see him and his lovely wife in Mission Tx this winter. He told me they'll be there.

Also there is prairie village, just over the NB line. Or cabin where home on the range is. Great museum in town west of sc, but they may be on short hours in nov. Several brochures in the lounge. FYI, pauls is nothing like the " good ole days".

No Tom, I'm refering back in 1979 & 1980 when I worked in SC. The locals have always been friendly and pulling things on each other. They even included us outsiders.

Did make you put on a skirt to qualify you to wait on the folks?? if not they should have.

So sorry that the " newbies" haven't experienced a family reunion. The locals were/ are the greatest. It was amazing the money we put into the local economy. I won a savings bond from local bank. And don't forget the rain storms!

Basically when things got tough in the industry. It was pretty expensive for the company. If I remember right, we paid a SMALL fee & everything else was a freebie.
They were held every 3rd year. They use to say, One year to plan, the year to have, and one year to recover. They set up in the football field, closed the plant, all employees did the reunion. They'd wake you up with revelry that was heard ALL over town, last night was tow vehicle parade all thru town led by local police, the service clubs held a big pancake breakfast at the armory. Just a small glimpse. So much fun !!
