Grey Tank Roof Vent

This is the second grey metal roof vent I've replaced on this rig. We've never had this issue on our two other Excels. The only difference is that this rig has W/D. We really like using Purex 3 in 1 laundry sheets, so we bought a case of it! I can't think of anything else we're do differently from our other rigs. Anyway I put a plastic one on.....hope it doesn't melt!!! The nice looking vent is the black vent. Comments welcome. rockin'

Many plastic vents available. Is there a reason to continue using metal?

Metal is what the factory used and what the replacement was under warranty. As noted I used plastic this time. rockin'

Interesting, I'm guessing you leave the gray water valve open?? So everything is just passing thru?? Is it ever closed?? Is that a galvanized vent??

It looks like rust but appears to be running down to the flange at the roof.

Usually leave grey open when parked for a while. Will close to build up grey water before a flush. But this is the same as I've done on the other 2 Excels we've had. The only difference is the W/D. The factory vent and first replacement vent were galvanized. I thought the original just could have be a poor coating or the maybe poor material or the like.....but obviously not. And you are correct rust was running down the flange. Thanks for all the thoughts, y'all. rockin'

We have had exactly same experience Rockin. No problem before--but after a year the one on this rig was all rusted and running down. PI replaced it when we were there in the fall. That is also the only thing different for us with this rig and the past-washer and dryer. Curious. We'll see if it happens again.

No, just a liquid detergent and a liquid fabric softner.
