I did a search, but didn't find an answer to my specific situation. My question is: How do I get the TV speakers to work in conjunction to my Home Theater speakers?
My equipment: I have a 2011 33RSE Limited. The entertainment center came with a Vizio (model VO320E) TV, and a Panasonic (model SC-PT480) Home Theater System. The dealer installed a Winegard Trav’ler SK-3005 DirectTV Slimline and I installed my DirectTV HD receiver from my house.
Connections: Satellite disk connected to DirectTV receiver via coax cable. Digital Optical out from the DirectTV receiver to the Home Theater System. HDMI cable from the DirectTV receiver to the HDMI 1 port in the TV. HDMI cable from the Home Theater to the HDMI 2 port in the TV.
With the above set up, we can watch DirectTV and can receive sound from both the Home Theater speakers as well as the speakers in the TV. However, when watching a DVD on the Home Theater system, we can only get sound through the Home Theater speakers. We can’t get any sound from the TV speakers.
Why does this matter? I purchased a wireless headset so if only one person wants to watch TV, it won’t disturb the other person. The wireless headset is connected to the A/V Out jacks in the rear of the TV. But since the TV speakers work only with the satellite, and not the Home Theater, the headset doesn’t work if we’re watching a DVD. I believe I have everything connected correctly. Perhaps it has something to do with the settings on the Home Theater system. Any suggestions?

Home theater isn’t passing audio thru the HDMI, either it’s a setting in it or it just won’t, check in the manual. I checked online and couldn’t find the manual, found the spec page and it doesn’t have any audio outputs. So it just might not be able to send audio to the TV, video only. This is always a problem with HTB’s (Home Theater in a Box) not being versatile. Another option would be to install a inexpensive DVD player?

We have dressed down equipment on our RT, but after much experimentation I figured it out after getting nowhere asking our dealer. We put our DVD/Surround in AUX1 to play TV audio through our surround sound speakers. On our Westinghouse 26" TV we do something similar with the TV in order to get the DVD audio to play through the TV speakers. Once I convinced myself there were audio patch cords going both ways from TV to DVD player, it was a matter of just pushing all of the buttons on the remotes to discover what made any difference. Half of the buttons pushed on our TV remote report back "Feature not available" on our dressed down Westinghouse HDTV. I miss our Vizio HDTV we install on our last coach ... next time I will delete the TV, DVD, & surround system (except for the speakers) and buy my own components.

Glenn,
I'm sorry I'm no help. We have the Panasonic TV and Jamo home entertainment system. Very simple set up. We can hear TV in surround sound by putting the Jamo in the "optical" mode. This will allow TV speaker AND surround speakers to work. We usually turn down the TV speakers down a bit to avoid an echo effect. Our TV speakers won't work with the Jamo playing a CD or DVD. rockin'

Dave (KU9L),
I did what you did. I was confident that I had everything connected correctly, so I started playing with the Home Theater Menu options until I figured it out. It worked!!! Now I can get sound through the Home Theater speakers AND the TV speakers both while watching DirectTV and a DVD. That means my wireless headset works with both as well.
For anyone else interested, here are the settings I used (I only listed the ones that I believe affect the audio output). With a DVD in the in the player, but "stopped", I pressed the "START" button to access the menus. Under the "SETUP" menu, I set the following:
Video Priority = ON
Audio Out = On
VIERA Link = Off
TV Audio = ARC

Please give us feedback (maybe post another thread) on how your brand new unit is doing? Number of trips, likes, dislikes, etc. We'd like to know!!! Thanks, rockin'
