Jan & I went to the RV & Boat Show at the Albuquerque Convention Center this past weekend. Excel has changed from the fiberglass counters to beautiful Corian! Those were in SOB models we looked at, but we wanted an Excel, so we settled for the fiberglass. The new models also have the flat windows; we really like those as well! I HATE it when we get something new, and then less than a year later something better comes along!

And THEN, I just purchased a new truck. I really like it, BUT . . . Dodge is now introducing the new 6.7 HIGH OUTPUT mid-year. I REALLY hated to hear that. The new model has a MUCH higher GCWR than my "standard output" model.

I shouldn't complain. I am very fortunate to have what I have!

Glenn & Jan,

You can think about this way:

You have brand new antiques
You can trade them in for new non-antiques.
OR
As you stated, be thankful for solid engineering and quality vehicles.
Who knows how the NewNew stuff is going to perform!

Steve

I hear ya Glenn.........Bryan makes sure he creates the desire for a new one......year after year. And I guess the same for the Dodge Bros.!!!! Dodge has taken the back seat on alot of stuff this year....but watch out mid year. We'll see. Better start savin' up for the new boy-toys!! rockin'

Glenn & Jan,

New ideas, new models create a desire that CAN be fulfilled. It's just called the "cost of having fun". We do have fun.

Remember that Liz Taylor just died with 100's of millions in jewels. She probably didn't take any with her to the grave. We should all take a good lesson from her and spend what we have so that when we "slide belly up" to our final resting place it should be with a $0 balance or close to it in the bank account.

Then too, with all the new products coming out an being added to the rigs, I like to see some "operational testing" time pass before jumping at the new product. This reminds me of buying computers. You just get it out of the box and there is something newer and ?better? available.

You can just look at a three year plan of trading for a new rig. Stay in touch with Bryan and I'm sure that he'll work very close with you to incorporate all the latest toys into your NEW rig.

Good point, Steve! My old truck was an '03, which was the first year for the High Pressure Common Rail (HPCR) Cummins. AND it had a new tranny, the 48RE. I was concerned about having all that unproved hardware, but it worked out okay (although I did have some issues with the tranny). The current 6.7L Cummins and 68RFE tranny have been around since mid-2007! Who knows how that new 6.7 HO is gonna work.

No worry; in three years all the "new goodies" the new things have will be outdated lol
