HI..
Three months and counting till full-timing!! When we do take off my parents will be going with us for the first couple of months. They will use the bedroom so my husband and I need to use the sleep sofa. When we brought our unit east from Arizona, we found the sleep sofa to be absolutley wretched...all sleep sofas are I guess! So we pulled the mattress off and added an egg-foam topper. That gots us through the trip home, but isn't an ideal soluction. Has anyone found any better solutions for the sleep sofa? thanks, Loralie

Hi Loralie,
We carry a queen size inflatable air mattress for when we have guests. It is very comfortable and only takes a few minutes to inflate. We put it on the living room floor. It isn't an ideal situation, but it works. We have not used ours for more than a few days at a time so it was no big deal, but a couple of months may not be fun.

All rv's sleep two comfortably, seat four for dinner and will serve six for cocktails. Any increase in amounts can some time offer challenges to relationships and friendships. Short terms can work. Good luck

Our new coach came with an inflatable mattress for the sleeper sofa. It is a major improvement in comfort as opposed to the mattress sleeper. The only drawback in my opinion is the inflating and deflating each time it is used.

The only RV we have had that used a comfortable sleeper sofa was a pace Arrow and the sofa was a FlexSteel unit. The Avion had a regular queen sleeper sof and it was horrible. We carried one of the queen blow up mattresses and put it on top of the foam mattress and no more complaints. Sold the trailer, but still keep the mattress around.

In my opinion, two months would be too long for four adults to stay in a trailer and not have a good bed. You want to remain friends with your parent's, right?? If I had to sleep outside of the main bedroom, even for a week, I would remove the sofa and put a decent mattress down on the floor that could be folded or rolled up. Then just carry a couple of fold up type chairs along.
The alternative would be to find hotels that let you park in their parking lot. Some even let you hookup to electricity for a small fee. One couple could take a room each night, at least then all of you will get a good nights rest. The money you save by not going to campgrounds could be applied to the hotel room.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts. Wayne and Roberta, was that an 'air dream' mattress they put in your trailer? Has anyone seen or tried the 'air dream'? They are pricey, but if they work??
Don't worry about the traveling...we've done a lot of traveling with my parents and it always goes well - as long as I can find a bed!!
Any suggestions on the best blow-up mattress??
We've tried some in the past and they didn't work too well....think we went to cheap!
thanks again, Loralie

I'm not sure of the brand but it is a 2 level mattress. The bottom part is shorter than the top part. The bottom slides up against the front edge of the couch and the top part fits where the cushions would normally go. It does inflate and deflate quickly.
