John,
The forum has everything it needs to be a terrific success. We just have to find a way to get our folks to participate. I think one thing that reduces postings on our forum might be that by the time somebody gets to an Excel they are seasoned RVers. Consequentially, we are not seeing the numerous postings asking elementary questions about RVs in general or routine RV use. Another major contributor, I think, is the fact that Excels are not problematic and most of us have the know-how and experience to take care of our investments ourselves. As an example, our coach has never been back to the dealer for anything. We did take it back to Smith Center where Jack and his crew knocked out a few warranty items. However, the main reason for that trip was because I wanted them to install the generator. To coin a phrase from Field Of Dreams..........."If you build it, they will come". Its been built and I think in time, they will come.

The jaunary edition of the "Excel Extra" should be hitting your mailboxes any day now. We wrote an article publicizing the forum. We appreciate your efforts and are quite confident that Excel Family Members will be checking it out in the days to come. Thanks for all your support. We appreciate you.
Bryan

Ditto Bob's comments -- thanks Bryan, and I'm sure with your folks "shaking the bushes" we'll see our membership grow.

Bryan, when you say "hitting your mailboxes," are you talking about a paper copy of the "Excel Extra" that is snail-mailed to people who own Excels? I only ask because I notice that there is an "Excel Extra" online at the Excel website -- ( http://excelrvs.com/newsletter.htm).
You might want to make a change to the on-line version of the "Excel Extra" to indicate the new location of the Excel Forum...while it did start out as a subcategory of the "Travel Trailers & 5th Wheels" section of the IRV2.com forums, it is now located in "The Owner's Corner."

Linda,
PI mails a copy of the "Excel Extra" to all the registered owners. The current edition is also posted on the PI web site.
I noticed the old "Excel Owner's Forum" iRV2.com link instructions and I'm sure a correction will be included in the next newsletter.
When will you be taking delivery of your Excel?

John -- or anyone -- do you know if there is an option to just receive an email reminder when the new issue of the "Excel Extra" is available on Excel's website? I'm trying to get everything possible put on a "paperless" basis, so I would really prefer to read anything like this online rather than receive another piece of paper for which I have to pay to have forwarded.
We should see our Excel this coming week. According to the dealer, it came off the line on Thursday, and was to have left the factory on Friday. The dealer expects it in sometime on Monday, so by the time they do their PDI, I would imagine we'll see it sometime by the middle to the end of the week and do our walk-through. That's assuming, of course, that the driver doesn't get delayed by any of the bad weather that's taking place in the middle of the country.
Of course, we most likely won't take delivery on the same day we do the walk-through. We have to take out-of-state delivery to avoid paying Arizona state sales tax (which is higher than the 3% South Dakota charges, and where we'll be registering the rig). That means a driver hauls it over to Blythe, CA where we all appear before a Notary to sign some papers. I don't know yet whether that will happen the same day or the day after we do the walk through.

Linda,
I don't believe PI has an email notification to inform owners when the next "Excel Extra" is published.
Congrats on your new Excel! I'm sure you will enjoy your Excel and the Excel extended family. Have a safe trip to CA.

I think that we should have an area that should be called "Best Practices". These are things that we do on a regular basis in our Excel travels that work for us. There are years of experience out there that think the things they do are just standard procedure for all. Wrong! Some of the simplest things I see from other folks ideas, accessories, procedures and processes make life traveling so much easier. I know we all take things we do we take for granted. Sharing these ideas with one another would only be a "win-win" experience. Like everything else take what you want, and leave the rest. I know that even a numbie like me can have a new good idea. We were parked next to some folks that were FTers for 6 or 7 years and they saw our bedroom slide corner bumpers and thought they were brillant idea. They never saw that set up before Ha! Just a idea. So what do you think? Rockintom.
