Jacks under slide rooms mechanism
Good Evening Everybody,
How many of you recommend putting Jacks on your slide rooms when extended? If it is done, does it reduce the motion when walking around inside?
I've seen them used and it looks like it would be a good idea but I'm not sure if it's necessary or has some long term benefit to the durability of the slide room mechanisms.
Thanks very much!

Jeff, I dont think that they are good in taht if the MH settles one inch, the slide will remain in jacked position therefore causing tilted position on slide rails.

Noooooooooooo!
There's nothing in your signature about what your RV is:
But in general I would not use them. If your coach moves for any reason (like a failed jack or even user error) it can and will tweak the slides. I saw a pair of slide jacks do a lot of damage to a fifth wheel last year. It was ugly!
If you're in a tag trailer or a fifth wheel look up JT Stabilizers. Best bang for the buck in stopping the jiggles.

Slide jacks are a bad idea, if anything causes the rig to settle the jacks will put undue stresses on your slides.

Slide room jacks are not recommended by the manufacturers.
They could be used if the frame was supported by blocks with no possibility of settling.

I would say no. From all I have read on this, and other boards, from other users ... and from a "mechanical" perspective of if the camper/motorhome itself shifts, the slideout will not likely shift with it.

I bought and used one on a travel trailer I had years ago. Surprisingly it didn't help stabilize it very much, if at all.
I don't recommend them because of the chance that you can wreck your slide out should someone lower the tongue on the trailer while the stabilizer is being used.

To everyone that Replied:
Thank you all very much for your opinions, sounds like an overwhelming... NO on slide jacks. Don't own them and never have used them. We Tow a Excel Winslow 31IKE with a Dodge 3500.
Thank again very much! I'm glad I asked

You can put scissor jacks on the frame if you feel the need.

Slide out supports are not recommended as stated above, I use them and do not over tighten them just slightly snug and monitor all the support systems every day. Our's is on a pad therefore less settling however like others have said be very careful.
