Jayco bought the property and buildings from the bank and equipment to build the new coaches but did not buy the name.

I have a friend who used to work for Travel Supreme. He is now a Jayco employee, but he told me a few people did get canned. The guy who ran Travel Supreme is running the new Jayco division. (sorry, he told me the new name, but I have forgoten it)

My friend is still worried, cause Jayco went into the luxury Class A market once before with mixed results. And the current market conditions and fuel costs do not work in Jayco's favor at this time either.

Another one you can add to the list is WRV as of a few days ago. From what I've read they are looking for similar deal as the TS/Jayco buy. I guess this happens from time to time. My parents had a Eurocoach made by Champion and wasn't but a few yrs later after their purchase the company went belly up. From what I've read on the Excel homepage about their history, they've weathered a few storms.

There's a discussion about this very subject over on the Escapees Discussion Forum, including a copy of an email a poster received from Jayco: Jayco Response to purchase of Travel Supreme.

The name of the coach will be "Entegra".
Jayco left most of the management core from Travel Supreme in place and are now intending on entering the high end market.
Although I have no inside information, my gut feeling would be that Jayco's intention is to basically build a Travel Supreme with different logos.

This way, they don't have to assume any TS warranty or liability.

Just my opinion.

Bryan, thanks for the info.

The Jayco folks are pretty smart and they know how to build a pretty good mid-priced fifthwheel. I was impressed with their product when we were looking.

Won't it be interesting to see what strategies they employ to leverage the Jayco name for quality as they introduce a new fiver name to the high end marketplace? An uphill climb in today's climate but not impossible.

Jayco has been around for a long time and is a good company.

It will be interesting to see how the Entegra evolves over a 3 year span. For a company who is use to mass producing, it is VERY difficult and expensive (but as Virgil says, not impossible) to have the "customer service" mind-set it takes to live in the high end marketplace.

Travel Supreme built a very nice 5th wheel and couldn't make it work. One thing is for certain.....something will have to change! One can't continue to keep doing the same things and expect different results.

I do see a pattern developing from these casualities that I intend on NOT being the one to learn the hard way from.... The lesson I am learning is DO ONE THING AND DO IT THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITY!

What do Travel Supreme, King of the Road, Alpha, and Western Rec have in common? They all built very nice 5th wheels and then decided they wanted to get into motorized, specifically, class A's.

I wish Jayco the best.

Bryan
