Does anyone have any ideas on "easy" method to keep the walls around the stove clean? Not cooking is not an option either. We've tried the clear plastic that is supposed to stick and be easily removed but it doesn't stick too long. I'm considering 1/8" plexiglass next. Thanks

We installed plexiglass around the stove in our previous RVs -- DW is not sure she wants it in the Excel.

I asked Miss Jo what she does. Her solution is not to fry inside. She has an electric frypan that she uses outsidewhen I'm lucky enough to get fried chicken or fried fish.
Her opinion is that the most severe offender is frying. She says she can clean up after everything else fairly well.

Well, that is MY personal solution. David objects to it. That's why we built full back & side splashes for our old RV when we built the countertop. It's made out of Wilsonart Plastic Laminate. Just wipe it down with window cleaner or a soapy cloth (one of the many benefits of owning a vintage RV :P). Hot grease will discolour and damage the plexi. You might want to think about metal. Maybe some of those "tin ceiling" pieces? Depends on what look you want and patterns available. With the tight spaces around the cooking area, you would think the Rv designers would put a little more thought into their designs. But then these are the folks who decide to put white carpet in an RV!

I added 4 or 5 ceramic floor tiles around the range top walls. I used 3M double sided tape (4 or 5 strips on the back of each tile). Pressed the tile against the wall and grouted with colored silicone adhesive.Tiles have stayed up for several years now and seem well attached. The flexible bonding and grouting seem to work well. Did the same for the bathroom to improve on the back splash area of the sink.

M&EM,
Thanks for the tip. I just added that to my list of projects.

I built a couple of sink basin covers for the kitchen sink and laminated them to match the counter top. When using the stove we just lean one against the back wall and one against the left side wall. Works great.

We have mirrors for a back splash on the back and side of the stove. It looks nice and it realy lets you know when it's durty.
