is leaking a few drops at each draining. It looks like both ends of the P trap screw on? A pipe wrench seems like 'overkill' on these plastic pipes. Should I just use channel locks to tighten them?

Virg,
And it's help you want? You sure know how to motivate a guy to help!
Since we have a rear kitchen that gets a good workout on trips, our kitchen P traps "work loose" and drip too. I have to tighten the nuts abouts once every 2 months on the average. Just just snug them up by hand. I wouldn't use a wrench in fear of busting the plastic nuts. A good hand grip and twisting is all that is necessary!
Virg,
If you are too weak to do it, maybe Ms. Jo can tighten your plastic nuts!
There...I feel better! Touche'

You need to be nice to Tom tonight. He and Donna will be over to the house tomorrow for lunch and inspection. So don't get him in a bad mood.
Alot of what I'm dealing with in homes is PVC/plastic and they can be hand tightened, then snugged with channel locks if needed. Same for metal. There are plastic gaskets that make the seal, seen some with compression.
You can try tighten it by hand first and then use the channel locks for snugging. Keep a hand on the pipe to keep it from turning so you don't turn the other pipe. If that don't stop the leak, try loosening both, check alignment and then tighten.
Hope that helps.

Help me, didn't realize Tom had already replied.
Hand tight is fine, snug means hand tight plus.
Hope this helps without confusion.

Chris,
Be sure to have a clean drop cloth handy for Tom to lay on while he is inspecting the undercarriage of your rig.

Virg, this one's for you - after what Tom did to you after you so bravely exposed yourself on the screw up with unleaded:
Chris, use two drop clothes - one under the trailer and one under the table! Sorry Tom, I just couldn't pass on this opportunity. Jim

Tom will bring over a house warming gift of Thunderbird, a top shelf hooch. Then he will need the lower tablecloth

Thanks Jim, I need all the help I can get although I think the posse is making some very good points suggesting that Chris get out the drop cloth for under the table.
Did you notice how Tom pulled up short with his comment on the gas screwup. I think the whiners have gotten to him.

Paul, now I know where Tom got the idea for the drop cloth he suggested I have available.
He sent me a list of things that he likes, was surprised that MD 20/20 wasn't on it but did say he would bring the Thunderbird. I thought it was a car He had picked up for Donna on the trip. What was I thinking.
With the list of inspection items he wanted me to have available, don't know if I will need the drop cloth for the dinning table. Might have to eat first, maybe on the patio deck, loooks like we might be 'inspecting' for a good long period. Glad we have 'daylight savings time', think I'll need it.
Thanks all for the suggestions, but your not helping me, I need to have Tom relaxed when he shows up.
Chris

Jim,
Dozed off early last nite, and missed alot of good action. Jim, you got me pegged right on with the drop cloth under the table. Are you sure you didn't know me in a previous life?
Virg,
It's not the whiners I'm scared of......it's you....you big balooka. I had heard from a realiable source here on the forum, that use the same hit man as Rush Limbaugh uses! Very scared!
Chris,
You just wait...I'll deal with you when we get there! BTW...no fair spitting in my food (or wine)!
Larry,
Read my response to Jim!
Paul,
I done run out of things to say....anyhow gotta get my inspection sheet detailed some more before going to Chris's.
Chief,
I'm gonna do one of those class III aircraft inspection on Chris's rig and write him up. If necessary will you help with a dishonorable discharge....I know you know all about that stuff!
Gosh it's fun to have fun on this forum. BTW are we off topic from the "P trap" subject? I thought so.
