When we returned home yesterday and was extending the front landing gears the drivers side jack made a very loud runble and could feel the viberation just below the motor. When it got down and picked up the load it was ok and supported the traler ok. Has any one else experanced any thing like this with thier front jacks?? These are electric.

Mine had soft brass nuts in the jacks instead of the called-for bronze and one exibited that symptom(but only under load)along with loud screeching. No warranty help from Excel on six mo. old unit but the jack manufacturer sent me two correct assys. and I had to replace them myself.

There have been issues with the some of the jacks on what looks to be your year of a 2005. We have had several customer units that have experience the same symptons that you have. It's Not that Excel is not assisting, they are refering you to the manufacture of the Jack, (Ultra Fab) so that they can correct it. We have had excellent assistance from Ultra Fab on any of the jacks in question, and no questions from the company. As a dealership, we return the parts back to Excel with warranty claim and are paid for the service performed (which they are reimbursed from Ultra Fab). Anyway, in replacing your jacks should resolve the problem with the rumble and vibration.

We just went through a problem with one of the front electric jacks on our 2005. Dealer, working through the jack manufacturer and PI, quickly obtained/installed a replacement. Great service..

Paul,
You shouldn't grease these until it comes out the weep hole. Just a couple of pumps on the old grease gun every once in a while. If you have had one apart you'd see that your only greasing the Torrington thrust bearing, not the oilite bushing or screw mechanism. Just FYI.

Amen on this issue...our squealed and screeched from the PDI. We were FTing and I called Ultra Fab and they sent me 2 updated mid tubes. Did the landing gear rebuild job in a RV park in Rapid City! Fixed it big time. Works great. One of my friends just listened to his squeal until they locked up and that put him in pickle. Just got the "ratcheting clutch" noise! I think a dealer replaced both assemblies on his. Tom

Tom,
I had been giving mine just a couple pumps of grease every once and in while for the first 2 years. Then one started making noise. I greased it until it started out the weephole and now the noise is gone. I'm hoping that fixed the problem.

I have been greasing the jacks about once a year, couple of pumps. I replaced the drivers side jack, works fine now. I took the viberating jack apart and did not find any cause for the viberation. Have not taken the gear box apart, could there be a problem inside of the gear box?? On the UL sheet it said if you had failure to take the motor and gear box off and turn the end of the shaft with a large screw dirver, must be a big one. I drilled a hole in a 3/4 inch socket for a pin and can use a rachet to turn the shaft.
Thanbks for the help
Dan

Dan,
I'm running out of WiFi minutes so will be quick. If you have the brass nuts in the mid tubes screw mechanism you won't see any problem without a load. Just screeches and squeal when loaded, unless you use it until it seizes. No amount of lube will fix that issues. New updated mid tubes (or assy) will. The new ones have the oilite bushings. Tom

After our last outing when retracting the legs I found one won't retract so I had to tie it up to get home. Not finding any information with my papers that came with the unit I e-mailed Ultra-Fab and explained what had happened.
After several days I received a reply from Marv Troyer in their customer service department,we e-mailed each other several times to try to get an understanding as to what happened, Marv thought a shear pin had broken so he shipped me a replace at no cost on a five year unit which I thought was above and beyond as far as service and much appreciated.
I finally replaced the leg yesterday after having a cool down period here, I found that the machined drive piece that the motor sits on, had snapped in two where it was attached within the tube with a pin. Now that its operation able I noticed a little play in the leg and was wondering if any of you who had yours replaced found the same thing as far as the play in the leg?
