I have discovered a leak in my RT's toilet. The leak seems to be coming from the supply line. I notice droplets on the 90 degree elbow. So I assume its must be leaking where it connect to toilet or perhaps the control (flush) valve. The strange thing is I didn't notice the water till the 3rd day of our trip. On my last trip I had noticed the bottom of the floor was wet and some water had collected on bins in the basement, thus I was checking it frequently. It seems to appear after use of the shower. I have checked all the drain fittings on toilet and shower. The pattern of the wetness is centered around the hole for the toilet supply.

How does one access the supply connection and valve on the toilet?

Sorry for rambling!
Terry

Hi Terry,

First of all might I suggest that you add your rig year and model to your signiture. That way we don't have to scroll your previous posts to find out what year and model of unit you have! You have a 2007 RT 26'. Which toilet do you have, you didn't say? I suggest you get down with a good light and pull the plastic surround guard off the toilet by taking off the 2 large black rubber bands in the rear of the toilet (again, this depends on which model of toilet you have) With a good flashlite take a look where the connector meets the flush valve. If no leak seen, flush the toilet while watching the flush valve for area of the leak. Anyhow, all of these toilets are so easy to work on. A very experienced tech can do almost any repair without removing the toilet. I always take mine out and put it on the tailgate of the truck and give it a good scrubbing while I have it out. You can go to the Thetford website and look up any part # you need and that makes it easier when you to the RV parts store. Good luck! rockin'

We have a 2008 RT26. Same thing happened to us. Funny thing is we had made five or six week long trips before the leak started. I got a small mirror and held behind the toilet to look at the supply line connection. That was the problem. Totally cross threaded. Not even close to being installed properly. Seems like whoever made that connection at the factory would have noticed that they were having trouble turning the female fitting. Must have been lunch time or Friday nite at five. I took pictures but have no idea as to how to post pictures on this site.

Thanks everyone for your feed back. JLS were you able to just properly reconnect the line or did it require parts replacement?

I was able to reconnect the line. Lucky that they male threads were nylon and a little forgiving. If they were brass I would have been replacing parts.

Terry, I'm not sure if manuals were provided for your Toilet...but not knowing which unit you have...here's an Owners manual and Application information to other units that might help.

If you have droplets on the fitting that would be a place to start. Are you able to see yours with a mirror also and able to get to it to tighten without taking it out? According to their troubleshooting guide, if it's leaking the connection was first and the valve second.

You also mentioned: "It seems to appear after use of the shower. I have checked all the drain fittings on toilet and shower. The pattern of the wetness is centered around the hole for the toilet supply." Most that have moisture in the basement as the result of the shower has found the leak coming from the shower faucet and not the drain. Moisture gets between the faucet base and wall and runs down the inside wall. With the moisture pattern 'centered' around the toilet supply...might just check the showers inner wall area in the basement after a shower to rule it out if not sure.

JLS, I hope that picture was taken before you removed and tightened it back up?!?!

I had a chance to check the connection yesterday. The connect was not cross threaded by\ut was only finger tight. Could not get any of the available wrenchs into the confined space but was but able to get an addtional 1/4 turn on the fitting. I will keep an eye on it and hopefully the will solve the problem.

Thanks again for all the replies!
