Anyone (Tom?) know who is the manufacturer of our ceiling fans?? Mine started to make a strange "ticking" sound a few days ago. Upon closer inspection today, I found that the ticking noise is actually electric sparks flying out of the motor! (that can't be good!)

The paperwork that came with the rig does not list a company name, it just says tradewind. I googled tradewind plus the model number in the paperwork, but came up with nothing.

It is 83 right now in the RGV, and it would be nice to repair/replace this motor.

Doug,

Mine says contact is Tradewinds Intl., P.O. Box 330638, Ft. Worth, TX 76163. Says Customer Service: 877-449-3267.
Probably part of the Rockin Tom Worldwide Enterprises conglomerate1

Thanks Rick,

My paperwork has that phone number also, but says nothing about the name of the company. I called there a few hours ago, but the message on the answering machine gave no clues either.

I'll call them again on Monday

Thanks again!

Doug

Doug,
Did you find out anything on this ? Just looking at older posts as we only have internet when we go to the nearest library (once a week) to get on-line. We have noticed the same thing on our fan....the ticking noise. Would be interested to know what you found out.

There was definatly a probem with the fan motor. I took off the 5 fan blades, removed the silver trim cover, turned the fan back on, and saw sparks inside the motor.

Donna (at Smith Center) sent us a new fan, and I installed the new motor yesterday.

Everything is working fine now. I just need to send the bad stuff back to Smith Center for credit. (they sent the new parts right to my campground!)

If I were you, I would stop useing the fan, and replace the motor.

Replacement was very simple, took maybe 10-15 minutes. you will need a large and small phillipshead screwdriver.
