Herman,

That is super. I don't think I'll try to make yours authentic though. 'Still' was correct about the length police and their tape. They'd get me for sure with the boat attached. However, maybe I can figure a way to put one on the back of BigBit.

I checked with the tape and it is equal to 86 ft., donot think that would be legal anyplace

Went and got weighed today with & w/o trailer. They are as follows:
With trailer & Smart.

Steer - 9600
Drive - 17260
Trailer - 14260

W/O Trailer & W/ Smart
Steer - 10600
Drive - 12860

I think DW may have to get rid of a few pairs of shoes. I know it's not going to be my fishing gear. We can shift some stuff around and eat some of that food in the cabinets.

We also did some calculations and figure that we are saving about $125 / month on fuel cost with this setup.

Roseann drove for about 4 hours across TX to Las Cruces, NM. She's getting a lot more comfortable behind the wheel.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. If it wasn't for all your help (and Still's) we wouldn't be having all this fun.

I do think that there may be a "monster" in creation though as Roseann gets behind the wheel more & more. That woman has got a lead foot. I caught her trying to support the local economy. Maybe I need the govenor turned back on? She definitely lives up to her nickname "Mario".

Glad to see that everything is working out for you Tim. I was surprised to see that you was able to take 1000lbs. off the front axel with everything hooked up. That's great!! All the other weights look good. But when you use a great bed builder, that's what happens.

As for Roseann heavy foot, don't Big Bit have cruise control? I know it saves me from supporting the G-man.

Well I better get back to work loading up. Kansas Excel Club Spring campout this weekend in Sabetha, Ks. Plus I'm cooking again. More uneeded pounds to pack around next week. Rockin may getting more of my to small bibs.

Interesting it dropped 1,000 lbs off the front by removing the trailer!

I think you read it backwards. It's 9,600 w the trailer & 10,600 w/o trailer.

That's what happens because of the hitch being in the rear. It should "unload" the drives with the trailer on. You just don't want it too lite so that you lose steer. I'm allowed 12,500 on the steer.

I got the weights w/o the Smart. They are:

Steer - 10220
Drives - 11380

Herrin Welding did a super job in getting all the weights correct. I'm glad I trusted someone with a lot of experience in building these beds. I sure couldn't have done it myself.

Just thought I'd add a little update. We had just finished a pull from Albuquerque to North Platte, NE with a stop in Colorado Springs for a total of 922 miles. For all that driving, we only put in 91.23 gallons of diesel. That's better milage than I ever expected. Hopefully it wasn't a fluke. We'll check it again after the next 600+ miles in our trip.
