How do you "lube" and keep in good working order your 5th wheel front jacks? I have to use my front jacks more than most people because of the type of air ride hitch I have in my truck. I want them to last!

Welcome to the Forum C.

On my unit, a 2001 Limited, I have the Ultra-Fab's. Here is a copy of their owners manual on what I have....I noticed you have an RT so not sure what system you use. If different, do you know the Mfg?

Other than the grease, If I haven't used the unit for awhile, I will extend the jacks slightly, raise the nose, and wipe down the legs with WD-40 to help offset any chance of rust.

Like work mentioned.....we don't know what year model of Excel and what jack assys. you have. If you do have the Fabex jacks, they should have a very obvious grease fitting on each jack in the garage area. They are looking right at ya when you open the garage!!! A couple of pumps of grease occasionally would be good....as this greases only a Torrington bearing, not the threaded rod or bronze oilite bushing. No need to overlube them. Since the oilite bushing is self lubricating, it really isn't necessary to do a lubrication on the threaded shaft in the mid tubes. However, me being just a tid bit anal....I do as work mentioned.....spray a little silicone spray on them.

For those with hydraulic jacks.....always wipe the shiny/finished shaft with a clean rag and spray a little silicone spray whenever they look dirty......which for me is every few cycles. Create this good habit....take a look at the shafts when you break camp. rockin'
