Just wanted to see if anyone here has stayed at Itaska State Park in Minnesota. We are headed there in August. If you did, did you prefer the Bear Paw campground or the Pine Ridge campground? It is a busy time of year so I've decided to make reservations. We will be visiting friends to the area.

Made a reservation even though no replies here. Between Saturday to Sunday a whole lot of the sites were reserved so just jumped in. Know I will like the park just wasn't sure which campground, oh well, now we will find out.

We visited the park on a day trip in late September, '08. It's a nice place, though it seemed to be heavily used by day visitiors even late in the year.

Don't forget to take pics walking across the headwaters of the Mighty Mississippi. And, a trip to Bemidji (home of the BSU Beavers) to see Paul Bunyan and Babe. It's a beautiful area to be enjoyed.

JanieD, Keep us informed on how it turns out. I've usually avoided the state parks when traveling through Minnesota as we were just traveling through to other areas. I went on a book buying binge at RVbookstore.com recently and bought the State Park Campground Guide. Turns out I may have made a mistake in by-passing the Minnesota state parks. Read up on the ones that were along the routes we traveled. They all sounded great. David

We have tent camped at several Minnesota State Parks and have always enjoyed them, just haven't camped in this one but have been to the day use area. There is so much to do in the area. Minnesota has some of the best rail trail bike trails in the nation and we haven't had a chance to ride the ones in this area. As well as visiting the cabin of several close friends. I just wish we were actually full time and could stay much longer.

Have any of you thought about adding campgrounds and reviews here?

Would it stay as a sticky here or get moved? If it stays here, I'm all for it.

We always wanted to visit there, will have to check on their practical limits for coaches.

Good point. I've usually posted my comments at www.rvparkreviews.com.

Tim..It will be in the Campgound section as a review (which is not even a forum section - but off in it's own section )... Davydee & JanieD... you can always post a review in both - here and the other one that you mentioned...

OK by me. It would be nice to have a map, click on the campground and get the reviews. Is that possible?

Actually, that's why I buy the TL Directory Campground Navigator. But I don't believe that's what you're looking to do as you only get their impressions.
