I looked at a new 30ft Excel classic today. The sticker said it was built April 2007.
They are selling it as a 2008 model.
Is that correct? Do they start the new model year that early?

Jim

red,

Don't sound right to me....but what do I know...I'm a country boy IQ-14...

Look at the VIN...the 8th digit back from the end of the VIN designates the year model. Check that out first of all. Where you looking at...Hastings?

Gotta have a fresh rig when you have a fresh truck. Ain't success nice? Antique kingpin you are. And still....no free lunch....you owe me you rat scallion!

I can tell you that our motorhome has a Roadmaster chassis with a build date of May 2006. The VIN does signify it as a 2007 model year -and it is sold as a 2007.

ummmmm...Rockin'... since when do you NOT know that new vehicle models start the year before their model year?? (ie... a 2009 is already being manufactured in 2008)
and still geeez guys...if you let me come hang out with y'all ...I will be the most offtopic person here ...course Rockin'...or as you guys fondly call him..."Sir KnowItAll" ...has already taught me to use the "OffTopic" emoticon!

Guess I didn't understand correctly. Of course the coach could be built in 4/07 and be a 'O8 model. Again, check the VIN# to see what year model they are calling it. Hopefully the VIN doesn't lie!

In automotive, you can't legally sell a vehicle designated 2 years in advance. In others words, if you make a 2010 model now, it can't be available for sale prior to 1/1/09. Hope that makes some kind of sense. rockin'

My Beaver was built in July 1999 and marketed as a 2000. I bought a BMW Motorcycle in June of 1994 which was advertised as a 1995 model. I think it is common. Perhaps due to model improvements and changes for the designated year. Often wondered about that.
