This was our morning wake-up call from our neighbors 3 rigs down from us. They were still sleeping and fortunately another neighbor was outside drinking his morning coffee and saw the smoke. The rig is a total loss but everyone is safe. The firemen thought that they would be seeing a frame but everyone here responded so fast with extinguishers that it was out very quick. Check your fire alarms. The fire started from the some where in the frig area. It seems that there is a recall on their model. So much for that repair.

Wow, what a bummer. I can't help but wonder if his fridge was subject to a recall?

Hi Tim!! Good teamwork for everyone there.!

From what I have read over the past year or so there is a recall on just about all RV refrigerators ...sooner or later the recall will expand enough to inlude those that are not already involved. We had our recall done about a year ago, then the cooling unit overheated and went out 6 months later, and the recall kit did what it was designed to do, killing power before things got too hot.

Those who have a refrigerator covered by the recall, don't put off getting it taken care of.

Supposedly he recently received the letter and a service man was to come out on Monday to check if theirs was one of those affected. Well, so much for that service call.

I bought an automatic halon type fire extinquisher built for use with a refrigerater fire from "Mac the Fire Guy" Just set it in the outside refrigerater compartment and it is good insurance in case of fire. I also purchased some of his foam type AB extinquishers to keep in the trailer which can be used on grease, deisel, gas,as well as" A "fires plus the clean up is easier. If you have a chance to go through one of his classes, they are very informative. I check the fire exits in our trailer to make sure they would open and found out that they were jammed with styrofoam blocks, probably from the factory. I had to pry the exits open with a screw driver to get the blocks out. I'm sure glad that I did this as I had previously just assumed they would open. Also have a plan in case of fire.
