Check it out.

Our 33RE came with two large swivel rockers. Nice, but heavy. To use them, you (I) would pull them out from the wall with great effort. To close the slides, you (I once again) would push them back to the wall, again with great effort and some profanity. No can do. We sold them within two weeks of moving in, at a LOW conference.

With no desk space for two computer users, who read newspapers and forums all day, our kitchen table turned into desks. NG also.

So we found a cabinet maker in Phoenix, who designed a deskspace for us plus two three drawer cabinets. Very nice. We are happy for work space plus return of our dining room table.

$1,500 installed. Heck, I got more than that for just one recliner!

Before

After

Heck, those pics sure are tiny. That's me behind the curtain.

Bruce and Jenna...
It looks awesome ...and I am sorry...but I had to fix the photos...it looks too good not to show it off properly!
(You took the properties from the thumbnails-you needed to click on the full size version properties to get the full size photos!)

Great Job!

We want to do something similar with our dining area. While we run into the same problem with the recliners as you did, that would leave us with only the couch to sit on, and that's not acceptable, particularly when watching TV...I have to have some place to put my feet up (plus the fact that the couch is not a good place for two people to sit to watch TV). The windows in our slide where the two recliners are come down much farther than your windows, so we couldn't build something there, anyway...unless we sat on the floor! At some point in the future, we'll probably replace the recliners that came with our rig with two Lazy Boy wall huggers...that way, we can recline without pulling the chairs out from the wall.

We'd like to replace our current dining table with something like this.

Who in Phoenix did you use? There are a couple of places in Oregon that do cabinet work for RVs, and we may check with them while we're up there this summer. However, if they can't do it, or are too expensive, we could have it done in Phoenix when we return to the Southwest for the winter.

Bruce,

Very nice. We have a 04 33RSE and like your idea. But we need the recliners, the sofa is just not comfortable for us. Heck, I gave our orginial recliners away.

B&J,
Boy is that nice! I love the set up. I also love the stained glass. Did you do that? I've done some and really appreciate a nice large piece like that. Tom

Thanks for fixing my pics. Gee they look nice. Now you can see my foot behind the curtain.

Cabinet maker = AllWood Furniture Co 4925 W Bell Rd Phoenix, AZ (602) 547-8111. We took out trailer to an RV furniture shop in Junction City OR. $3,500 for a custom desk installation. No thanks. Monaco and other high end Class As in the park lot.

Yeah, we made the stained glass panel you see. Many moons ago, we worked briefly as stained glass artisans in Mountain View, AR. Went broke, but kept a few our our nicest (unsold) work. That one is our best.
