This is one of the options that I really like! An independent hydraulic leveling system! This saves me so much set up and tear down time, plus I do not have to carry any more leveling wood with each down rigger being independent. I just carry four pads like this.

I'm confused now. Just how much time are you saving with this leveling system? I use 2 x 10 x 12 pieces of wood under the tires to level the unit and so far have not used more than 6 pieces (3 per tire). That's one - two step setup. I use the wood over the plastic squares, which I also carry, for no special reason. Using the level on the hitch I can tell from experience how many pieces are needed under the tires. I place them at the tires while DW parks. Yes, she hitches, drives and parks with out any problems. I still have to work on her hooking up the sewer hose. Our total time for drive up, leveling, slides out, electric connect, water hoses connected, and refreshments in hand, from DW, is about 20 minutes without breaking a sweat. Then I set up the TV.

Using your system, do you still use the rear jacks? What's bearing all the weight now, these 4 jacks or all 8 jacks, these 4 plus the front and rear 4? How about the tires for weight bearing? Do you set these up 1st or last? Are these hydraulic or electric? Are the main jacks hydraulic or electric? What's the location of these jacks in relation to the tires? Are they forward, aft, or what? Are they leveling side to side, fore & aft or both?
P.S. Sorry no photos now. I'm parked on level ground and don't need anything but the front and rear jacks.

Tim, I carry four pieces of wood, that is it. The first photo is one of the rear down riggers and it is about one foot behind the rear tire. When I dolly down , after pulling the truck from under the coach, I then level side to side with the front down riggers. After getting the width level, I then level the coach front to back. When the coach is at the point of level, that I like, I then push all four down riggers at the same time down, which raises the coach and takes some of the weight off of the tires. Some folks do add two more jacks at the rear of the coach to help with trailer movements.


The wood I used to carry, four 6”x6”x30”,eight 2”x10”x32”, four 2”x10”x16”, so I no longer have to take out nor put away any more. When placing the coach in the lot I don’t have to stop, lay out leveling wood and finishing backing up. I just stop where I want it.


I think that is great that both partners are backing , driving and dolling down the coach!!!! But there is only one of me taking around 10 minutes and two of you at 20x2 is 40 minutes…I know now what one of the contests can be at the Family Reunion this May……….could be a lot of fun……Book2

Book2, Have you been in any situations where you found you raised the tires off of the ground when leveling? There's a couple of sites in Shenandoah Nat'l Park (overflow at Big Meadows) where there wasn't enough wood in the Southeast US to level our old travel trailer. David

I would have to carry some wood for that! I am working yet so the cg’s I use need to have some perks, laundry is the main one. I have gotten pickier as the years go on and if at a cg I need some wood to level they can furnish it and I’ll leave their wood in the space I was using upon leaving. If a cg needs a lot of leveling wood and does not want to furnish it, I drive down the road. There is always a cg that wants my money… I do not go out in the wilderness and just drop anchor…..I am seeing that kind of country every day at work and don’t desire living in it….And yes with this system one can raise the tires to change one and don’t need a jack anymore! Now PI is not probably going to endorse what I just said. Book2

If a cg needs a lot of leveling wood and does not want to furnish it, I drive down the road.

I have the independent hydraulic levelers too. I used to have the old system and the difference is day/night.

I'm usually perfectly leveled, or, very close, within a few minutes of unhitching, with the convenience of pushing a few buttons. Sometimes the rear wheels are off the ground, but, so far, only one side.

We mostly boondock. And as part time vacation rv'ers we are usually out a few weeks per trip, frequently moving from campground-to-campground about every 4-5 days.

These jacks have taken the main hassle out of frequently setting up/breaking down with the boards, scissor jack stabilizers, etc.

Apart from being more power independent with the addition of the solar/inverter stuff, these are my favorite upgrade.

Am I understanding you correctly that you DO NOT use rear stabilizers with the hydraulic levelers? All you then use are the 2 front jacks & 4 stabalizers, correct? We're going to an Excel Rally here shortly. Hopefully someone will have them there and I can see it in operation.

Not HB, but our trailer has them. We'll move in tomorrow and plan to be fully checked out in April. I believe the front stablizers act as the front jacks. At least that's how they were demonstrated to us when we put the deposit down on the trailer. David

HB, I take it you didn't feel the need to put something under the wheels to allow them to help carry the weight? Thanks!! David
