It wasn't the greatest weather, 40 - 50 mph winds & gusting to 70 mph, to begin moving into our new home but we did manage to get a lot done. We're hoping to be done by Thursday and on our way once again.

Over the last couple of months, Rose and I had been discussing some changes that we wanted to make to our rig over the next year or two.
1. Heavier axels w/ J rated tires and disk brakes
2. Redo sofa w/ leather
3. Larger TV
4. Delete generator
5. Larger frige
6. Replace kitchen chairs

Wouldn't you know it. We stop to get a repair done at R.V. Sales in Moriarty and Bryan happens to be there for the open house that they are having.

Roseann likes to look at the new rigs, get ideas, stay current w/ what's on the road and sees the new CFE w/ full body paint. I'm thinking Oh-Oh. Well we talked about it, sat in it and decided that we liked the TKE floor plan better. Then we sat in a GKE that was being readied for delivery. Now this had possibilities.

Being ever vigalent, Byran says that if we're really interested, we should talk to Kathy because he had a new 36' GKE at the factory ready to go. After getting the numbers from Kathy, we went home to think and crunch numbers. OMG, it started to make sense for us to make a deal and switch now rather than wait.

We are planning on a long time ahead of us on the road and besides we might as well spend our kids inheritance while we can enjoy it.

So yesterday, we started moving into our new home. It's a 36' 2011 GKE with just about all of the changes we were going to make to our 2007 TKE. We did not get the full body paint,, which is OK. The hickory wood looks really great.

Well, it's time to get my backside in motion and start getting our stuff into the new rig.

Congrats Tim! I remember that feeling a year ago!!! I am interested in learning how the kitchen slide works with the island counter, have not seen the slide closing/opening in action yet on the GKE models.

The grandkids sure are and want to know how they can get us to funnel a little more their way. They are already spoiled rotten by us.

What the heck!!! Tom goes around picking on everyone about their old antique Excel, then Red buys an Winslow, Still gets a Wild Child, Loud Mouth Tom gets a Winslow, now Tim getting a new Limited 36' GKE. Must be a new type of flu going around. Sure is great for Bryan and company. I also know that some one is getting a new Winslow TT.

Congratulations Tim & Rosann. 99% comes through again.

Smoke, it's your turn to step up to the plate.

Workshop, just keep that 2001 and you can keep us informed on how to fix and maintain things. You do a great job.

CONGRATS!!!!!
I think that would be the floorplan I would be most interested in...while you are there...maybe you can ask why they never put a window in the Kitchen area?? That is the one thing that bothers me about that floorplan. I spend a lot of time in there..and I would feel closed in..

I am very happy for you and RoseAnn ...We are waiting for the photos!!!

Here are the pics before we started moving in. It sure doesn't look llike this now. We're still finding out where we'll put things in here. I have this feeling that things will be rearranged a few times before we get it all settled.

Great looking rig! Actually, BEAUTIFUL!!! That glass bowl sink is pretty fancy-smancy!!! They may no let you into some of those low life parks you frequent!!!

Aren't you worried about trying to sit at "your" desk while Rosie wants to watch Jerry Springer????

Isn't it amazing of how much "stuff" there is to swap from rig to rig. May not be so bad for you as you're going up in length.......but we went down. It took us 5 solid day to do the move and lots of donations to the local shelter!

That thing is so big you might could park Smarty in the living room!!

Keep us abreast of all the goings on!! rockin'

I know everyone has a reason but why did you delete the generator? Secondly, what did you prefer in the GKE over the TKE?

As we have yet put ours into production, this may help us.

Thanks.

Great questions. We decided not to take the generator because after having it for 5 yrs. I think we put no more than 40 hrs on it. I had to remember to just lite it off for maintenance every month or so. Bottom line is, it took up great storage space for other things like fishing equipment. It also burns a lot of propane. We will instead at some time in the future buy a Honda 2000 W generator and then, if needed, get another one to run in parallel for 4000 W total. They don't use much gasoline. I think it's 1 gallon / 8 hrs.

As for the GKE / TKE preferences.
1. TKE has a more open floor plan
2. GKE has larger TV for my "fishing" shows. The other thing is we now sit in front of the TV and are not looking at it from the side. I like this very much.
3. GKE has much more counter space and DW likes that a lot
4. TKE has more indoor storage, the "L" portion of the sofa

The rest are just general reasons that we upgraded
1. We upgraded to disk brakes w 17.5 rims & 8,000# axels
2. Satellite dish is upgraded
3. Basement definitely has more storage
4. Bathroom sink makes DW happy
5. Utility center is handy for routine maintenance of H2O filter and vacuum
6. Hydraulics are definitley better than we had in the '07
7. Construction has incorporated fixes in several "problem" areas.
8. Basement flooring is a lot better than the previous material.
9. 10 cu ft fridge vs 8 cu ft
10. Better A/C unit
11. Higher BTU heater

IF I were to have one built, I would request the following changes:
1. Drawers and pantry slide that utilized the "full length" of the cabinet space available. There is way too much space given up.
2. More power outlets in strategic places.
3. I'd redesign the area that houses entertainment equipment. It's difficult to work in when hooking up the equipment. I don't twist and bend easily anymore.
4. I'd want 6" - 8" more in the back end, if possible. It would allow the sofa to sit there a little more easily. Right now it's OK but close.

I hope this helps. These are just OUR personal preferences. I'm totally happy with what we have right now. We just need to live in this for a while, get some miles under our belts in it and readjust our living habits and storage usage. There are a lot of new opportunities to explore. Then in a few years I'll be able to say what changes we'd want in the next unit. Did I say that.

Tom, Tom, Tom,
"Low life park"? Which one of the parks that you recommended are you referring to? You keep telling me that I could stay in the parks you do for less money. I guess that's how you can afford all that OP.

Rosesann says that if you're going to acuse her of watching "Jerry Springer", she's going to let Ms Donna know what you were watching on late night Cinemax when you stayed with us.

What do you mean "up in length"? We gained 3 inches and 1 sq ft of space. I'm glad we didn't price it on $/ sq ft.

We were shifted over to the new rig in just 72 hrs and only had one small bag of things that we needed to recycle. I will confess though that we employed our granddaughter to help us out. Fortunately she had 2 days off from school and worked really hard to help us. We are very grateful to her.

We are now at Kirtland AFB and will be spending some time relaxing and enjoying Endeavor III.
