Does anyone know if the EXCEL slide outs on the newer units
can be walked on? We are about ready to purchase a Winslow 31 RLE
and was recently told that you can't walk on their slideouts. I have
always stepped on our other units slideouts that we have owned
and have never had a problem. Just curious?

Thanks,
Hitcher

Hitcher,

Prior to 2008 you could not walk on our slide-out roofs. we used only 1/8" luan to glue the EPDM down to. After (I believe) january of 2008, we went the the same 3/8" decking that we use on our main roof so now you can walk on them.

However, I would use caution on the long slide outs, especially if you are heavy. 13' is a pretty long span to support several hundred pounds.

I hope this answers your question.

Bryan

I have always gotten on our RV roof to wipe them down, but always with kneepads on hands and knees. It is safer for both you and your roof. We have owned a 2000,2001,and 2008 Excels had have never had problems. Mike and Shirley Engle
