What is the best way to replace the sewer hose inside a Pivot Eze tube? Ours has sprung a leak.
Thanks,
Owen

Hi Owen,
Welcome to the Excel forum. The slinky hose is very easy to replace. Just loosen the large worm clamp at the end of the large 5" tube. The tube comes off and it exposes the slinky hose. Replacement is common sense from there. You can get about 15 to 18 foot of slinky hose (compressed) into the tube easily.
A couple of things to think about.....
*if you replace the slinky with a very high quality hose (15mil and thick) it gets hard to manage back into the tube when it gets cold.
*use duct tape or Gorilla tape (or even a piece of bike tire tube) to wrap the hose where the clamp attaches to the slinky to prevent cutting when tightening hose clamp.
*don't ever lose the big white end cap.....it is spendy!!!
I use a piece of 4" of co-ex drain pipe (HD, Lowes and the like) that I slide up into the E-Z Pivot tube (over the slinky) when stowed and pull it out to cover the slinky when set up in a park to prevent UV damage. UV is about the worst enemy of a sewer hose. If you do a search on the Excel Forum you'll find pix of our setup. HTHs...rockin'

Tom, I hope you have a patent on that process, LOL. I used to use an 8' piece of 4" thin-wall pvc where we workamped for 6 months since our sewer connection was way, way back of the coach, but didn't have a saws-all to cut it down to fit into the basement when we packed up to leave in 2009 with our 2001 coach, argh. On a side note, our sewer hose on our 2009 coach is approaching 30 months old from when it was delivered to the dealer and it is peeling the end that screws into the 90* elbow. Only once did it disconnect from the pivot ease connector when I had to stretch it too far as it was an inch too short. This last winter I had to add a 20' extension since we had a 35' reach to the sewer connection and barely had enough reach to get to the end ... plus had to search for coral rocks to keep the array from toppling in the 40 MPH weekly winds that came and went at random in the FL Keys. Even though my 20' extension was exposed to the north side of the coach all winter, I expect to cut it down to replace the original 15' section this summer.
We arrived in E. OK April 3rd to be assistant managers, but the 70 year old managers cannot handle 49 year old whipper-snappers as assitant managers so we are leaving Saturday morning if we survive the 12" of rain here over 72 hours. When we get to NW IL on 5/6 or so we will grow a 2 acre garden to avoid starving this summer. We already rejected a couple of workamper jobs that offered us to pay $700 per month for our site with part time wages. At that time we will switch over our sewer hose to the new one, but cut it down to 18' (15 mil hose).
Dave

Thanks Tom, that's about what I figured, but thought I'd check with the experts here!
BTW, we met in Pigeon Forge, TN back in '07, which is when I joined this forum.

Yep, that was us! We were there to work at The Track there in PF. In fact, we're going back shortly for our 4th season. If you notice, I actually joined back then, but I'm not an active poster although I do read the group.

Have you ever worked for the corp? There might be some openings at Council Grove Lake in Kansas, as we just turned down one so we could take one at Perry Lake instead. It is in the Tulsa district office though.

We bid for several corp. jobs in Iowa, the winning bids equated to ~$6.43/hr and we would have had to supply all of our own cleaning supplies. The only way to survive on that kind of money is to have a nice pension or supplementary savings and our feeling is that if one has to work that hard it is crazy to supply your own supplemental income just to be there. There are small county parks on Lakes in MN that are paying $10.55-$11.55/hr for hosting where one doesn't have to provide their own mops and brooms, provided one can be the victor in the 3 month selection process.

I used your suggestion here today. Bought a 10' pipe cut into 3 40" pieces. One will slide up inside while I can carry the other 2 in the back of the truck. All that for under $12!
BTW, the white end cap is attached to the Pivot Eze with a piece of chain so it can't get lost!
Thanks for the idea!
