Is anyone having problems with their sewer hose connection breaking? We have now replaced the connection twice. Maybe we are doing something wrong? Invariably, the connection point at the campground requires that we swing the apparatus nearly 180 degrees and then swing it back when we leave - again when we get back to our building and connect to the sewer system there. Any ideas?

Is it breaking at the hose or the metal piece that hinges?

The part that keeps breaking is the plastic ring that has the hooks on it to attach to the rv. It is only a $1.79 part. It attaches to the flexible hose which flexes in and out ok, but does not like to twist 180 degrees as easily, causing the little hook to be in a bind and break off; then you have not attachment. The big ring around the PVC pipe is faily loose and the "arm" is also very loose. Is this correct? I think with all these loose parts it causes the plastic ring thingy to flex and break instead of ???

I can see you now doin the Ickey Shuffle, in fact is this you doin it.
Sue,
The only thing I can think of is if the sewer hose is twisted somewhat and when it is flexed it torques the plastic end piece and breaks off the ears.
Maybe your best bet is to add another length of hose that is a few inches longer than the one that is on the rig now.
They are a simple deal but very effective. I also use some vaseoline to help seal the hose to the fitting, maybe soneone else has a better sealer than vaseoline but that is what I use. HTH

I have not had anything break on mine. But I have had connections come loose. I have found that when swinging the plastic tube if I hold it low to the ground the connections don't work loose.

We haven't had a problem with the plastic lock ring breaking. We have had leaks in the short section of sewer hose that connects the main drain with the PIVOT. The next time I replace its going to be with the most heavy duty (ply) hose that I can find.

Virg, if the truth were known, your lovely bride was supervising your repairs. Just like Marilyn, she has to 'watch' and make constructive comments as I do the work!

I have one of those supervisors too.
Although I never had a problem with the plastic fitting that came on the coach, the first time I had to replace the plastic hose I also replaced the fitting with a "Blue Line". There are a verity of manufactures of the fittings and some are much more robust than others. If you can find "Blue Line" products (available at Camping World) you can't go wrong. MTCW

Sue,
I would agree with Larry that if you keep breaking the plastic hooks off, your hose might be to short and not 'aligned' properly causing it to bind and pull breaking off the hooks.
The EPA came to my house shortly after purchasing my unit and told me I had to replace the hoses on my unit. They were that bad. Replaced from inside the tube out with the Blue Line, with the slip connections and did what Chief mentioned, replaced the short hose with a very heavy ply. Got it all from CW.
When I replaced the short hose and fittings...what I did was remove the old hose, and install the new hose on one of the fittings and attached it to the section of pipe coming from the tanks. I then installed the other fitting on the Pivot Eze, held up the hose to get a length and made the cut. Then attached it to the Pivot Eze fitting. Decided to have mine alittle long rather than short, meaning it's a little compacted rather than extended. Doing it this way allowed me to look at the length before cutting.
Once I have the length I liked, I installed the hose on the fitting and loosen the first clamp. I then twisted the hose until it looked comfortable, not twisted. I tighten the two clamps and checked for movement.
By doing it this way, I knew the hose would be long enought and the hose and four connectors would be in alignment.
Hope something helped.

Sounds like too short a hose is the problem! Thanks guys, I knew you'd have the answer!

Sue,
We had the same problem with the "slop" in the large clamp connection. The expanded metal arc's provided just will not fill the gap and stay put! I resolved this issue on our '07 by cutting a secton of 3" schedule 40 PVC the same width as the clamp, split it half, place these two arcs of PVC under the clamp and tighten the bolt. This fix will take care of all the movement in that area.
Hope this helps.
