Engel is the best by a long shot. You can use AC or DC. On high settings they will actually freeze water or ice. On lower setting they act a fridge. Less drain then a light bulb. They are built like a truck. Wasting your money if you buy a cheap fridge freezer. High drain and in hot weather they don't cut it.

Engel use a patented rotary compressor which makes the diiference! Well worth the money. I have two of them.

Sounds exactly like our Dometic unit. Runs on 12 or 120 auto switching and, depending on the setting is either a refer or freezer.

Hey Jim,

When I started this post, Russ came back to me with pictures of the one that he installed. As it turns out and according to Cabe the model with 2 keyslots is the Version 2.0 which only comes in black. So you end up with a back up key for the deadbolt and the door lock. That was the only reason

Interesting comment. I assume I have version 2.0. Can't say for sure but I do have the white one and it does have two key holes. One for the latch and one for the dead bolt. I need to investigate a bit more just for fun. Thanks for the info.

Hey Everyone,

I would like to update you all on the what we did in this regard:

First the frig: We bought the ARB 63 quart. We wired to the fuse box on our 31IKE and run it on the 12 Volt system only but have tested in both modes. It works great! We have been able to store everything that we intended to store. I set it to 5 degrees F and everything is frozen solid but I will try to eak the temp up slightly to try to conserve more energy. Don't have a real handle on power consumption but with 750 watts of panels, and 432 amps of storage I have not had any trouble keeping up unless, of course the sun doesn't shine. The back refer area does work very well which has surprised me. We're very pleased so far!
Keyless entry: The installation was to easy! The programming was a challenge but after Cabe walked me through the issues, we were up and running. The key fob seem unnecessary for our lifestyle and we keep the keys in the truck for back up. I mounted the touch pad directly below the unit and seems to work very well for us. We both like it very much, life just go a bit simpler.
