Just read on another forum that a DT factory rep was quoted at a recent RV show that Peterson Ind. would close within 3 months! Does anyone have more info?

Here is Bryan Tillett's (the President of PI) latest update on the health of the company. I imagine that Bryan will respond to this thread sometime during the week to give us a new update.

I don't know who DT is but I do know that it's a great way to get someone to stop looking at the competition. Tell the customer you're strong and they're about to close.
Our "job" as Excel owners is to continue to feel great about our decision to buy an Excel and express our feelings to others. By doing that, we will stregthen the company by insuring those who are considering a purchase will look to PI as a worth while choice.
Who expects Bryan to give, you personnaly, a full accounting of where the company stands today? If you do, what are you smoking? Get real. Bryan's already told us once that they are OK to weather the storm. Let's accept that and go on to become the best salesperson a company can have, a very satisfied cutomer.
What would you do different tomorrow if Brian did say they closed this weekend? Probably nothing. You'd continue to live and travel in the Excel you own. You'd get it repared when you needed. Most of all you'd continue to enjoy the features and quality of the unit you loved on Friday.
Let's just drop the topic, quit being rumor mongers and get on with enjoying each others company. Continue to share our experiences in our great Excels and stop worrying about the future. The only thing we can do is give our support to PI by being the satisfied cusotmer we are today and hope for the best for them.
Just remember that WE as owners play a big part in their future success. So go out, have fun in your Excel and others will follow. If your unit needs replacing, buy a new one. You'll be a part of the success of PI.
To Bryan, I say thank you!

That may be a new trend for some of these dealers trying to sell units as stated, when I was walking the show in Quartzsite the other day a salesman started telling me how the price on stock for several companies was way down when he said Fleetwood was down to .09 cents I looked at him and said its time to buy some stock. He was coming in the front door and I was walking out the back door.

Stock is down on everything. Monaco went up from .46 to .74, still way down. We have a recession/depression on our hands and yes things are hard for everyone. That rumor could be applied to every business out there, not just RV's and Excel. I have to agree with Tim, give it a rest.

I agree with many things that have been saiid here...and I know for a fact that the media knows how to twist things - or should I say "omit" things in their reporting so that it fits their mood.
The story that Kablewizard mentioned about the salesman..well - all I can say is that he had NO clue as to what he was talking about- he is trying to sell a Safari while bad-mouthing Monaco... Safari IS a Monaco owned product nor did he know what DP stood for

As a potential Excel buyer I am concerned about the longterm viability of the company. I would prefer to own an RV that will not become an orphan in the near future. When I see well managed companies like NuWa throw in the towel, it's not too far fetched to think it could happen to Peterson Ind.
By the way, "DT" is DoubleTree RV, maker of Elite Suites, Mobile Suites, etc. It was supposedly a factory rep, not a dealer salesman that made the comment.

Factor rep, dealer salesman...both have a vested interest in trying to get you to buy THEIR product.
And, since Peterson Industries is a privately owned company, how can someone from another company KNOW what PI's financial position is?

Dear Dutch_man39
Viability of the company and quality of the RV walk hand in hand. We own an Excel because of the quality that goes into the construction of the unit. I know that, in all likely hood, I will have this unit as long as I want. I don't have to worry about it becoming "worn out" because of poor workmanship and needing to replace it. I sleep very well each night knowing that my money was well spent on my Excel. I've watched some of my friends and relatives buy SOB's and have a whole lot of issues. I have been just smiling and go on my way. IF it became an orphan, I would still enjoy the geat quality for as long as I wanted.
Who's going to be in business tomorrow, in a yr, 2 yrs and 10 years . If I new that for sure, I'd be buying a whole bunch of their stock in the morning and enjoying the rewards. The key is if you want a great unit, buy an Excel. You'll just help insure that they'll continue in business and you'll have a quality product. If you buy an SOB, it'll be like rolling the dice. Maybe you'll get quality maybe you won't. Maybe they'll be in business tomorrow or maybe they won't.
Remember that the longer you take to order your new Excel, the lost time of enjoying it can never be regained.

Things are falling in line just about as I predicted they might. We, as did all RV manufacturers had a tough winter through the New Year. Things are still tough. If there is an RV manufacturer that tells you otherwise, it's not true.
We are however, seeing light at the end of the tunnel. Last weekend was a GREAT Excel weekend. We had three shows around the Nation and sold product at all three. This was our 5th year that Peterson Industries has shown at the Tampa, FL Supershow. This was the best year we have ever had there.
As I've stated in several earlier posts, Peterson Industries is poised to weather this storm. We will come out the other side stronger and more efficient than ever. Is it tough... YES
Are we going to build a better product for it... YES.
Doubletree makes a fine 5th wheel. But just as in election ads, throwing mud at others sometimes seems more effective than promoting the positive features of your own product.

Ditto Tim on your comments!
Bryan,
I really agree with your point about slamming your competitor's product or operation. It does not elevate your position to the wise person listening. Something you learn when you're a young person, if you're lucky. Hang in there, you're doing the right things! rockintom
