I found two propane leaks on my 2004 Excel Limited today. The leaks are on both sides and are where the gas pipe connects to the gas hose (not the tank hook up hose). Anyone else have this issue in the past?? Mike

When our rig was brand new and we pulled into the driveway at S&B to load up the coach...my bride said she smelled "sewage" (and that was after my bath ). We hadn't even pottied in the rig yet! I traced it down to the curbside propane tank area. After doing a spray dishsoap test, I found 3 leaks at the threaded conections at the galvinized pipes. The connectors were tight and had some kind of pipe dope on them but were leaking. I cleaned and resealed with Permetex performance thread sealer. Went and checked the road side and found 2 of the same pipes connection leaking slightly. Did the same thing to repair. Got a bit paranoid and soap checked all of the propane connections under rig. Couldn't find any more. rockintom

While you may have leaks, you should be able to fix them yourself. I would go to the hardware store and get some thread sealer that is meant to be used for propane. Some of the other sealers may cause bigger problems than the leak it self.

All gas piping is "Black Pipe" not galvinized pipe. This is National Code. Even copper pipe is of a special code it it is used for gas line use or direct buried.

Sorry SKIA, but I wanted to make that very clear. Just the hard headedness in me.

Thanks Still (at least for a while),
I just used the term galvanized loosely and you fixed that! I guess all the rest of my story is correct! SKIA fails one more time!

Yes welcome Sgtgibson!! Glad you picked an Excel and I am wondering are Excels going to be not looked at to seriously when traveling through New Mexico? Book2 [P.S. can we use you as a reference if we get stopped?]

To all,
This is great info. When I get my unit ready for it's first adventure this year I am going to check for propane leaks. In October I had to refill one of my tanks and the furnace had been used maybe 3 nights since purchase. I grill out alot when the weather is nice so I may have a leak also.
