I had both straps which restrain the propane tanks fail. The little latch appeared to have missed heat treatment and it was soft metal. I looked a replacing it with another metal strap but how would I know if that strap was okay. I decided to use a fabric strap from Walmart. Works great and costs half the price.

I just had that happen to one of mine too- didn't look like it was the strongest of systems. I considered something like the fabric strap, but went with a metal replacement strap for PI. I was concerned about it rubbing and fraying (esp. if you thread it thru the cutouts on the vertical part of the holders). I'm not sure which way to go if/when it happens again, as having the tank bouncing on the road under the rig would not be too great. Have you noticed any fraying on yours? Thanks!
