Rain gutter caulking
When I purchased my Excel I was informed the painters had failed to caulk the gutters. I had the gutters caulk by a local place while it was undergoing some other repairs.
I was on the roof the other day replacing a satellite cable and noticed the gutters are not caulked below the screws that attach it to the body. Do you think this is intentional or an oversight.
(I know it need washed!)

There is caulking above and below gutter strip, what am I supposed to not-see? Just below the screws is the actual gutter channel, if it is filled with caulk water just runs down the side of the RV instead of being channeled to the ends of the RV. (what I see in pics)
Leastways that's how mine is configured.

Songun, I zoom in on that picture and it does indeed look like the lower gutter strip is caulked it is just so dirty I thought the black was a void, it does look like a caulking edge. . I will climb up and confirm it is caulked then delete this post in shame! The area I was talking about is the lip directly below the screw, not the water channel

Mike you are correct in your last post. You are OK, but need to clean caulk and look for any holes creaks or voids. While your up there take a Robertson bit and check the all the screw heads to make sure they are tight, I mean just snug. Mine seemed to come loose a bit when traveling, I guess from the flexing going down our wonderful roads! To me it seemed that the front 1/4 of the roof screws of the coach was looser (more flex being pulled and turning). And talking about caulking, the gutter ends spouts on each corner is a huge area that you need to be concerned with. That's where the front or back cap comes in contact with the sides and roof. Also the iron brackets surrounding the slide outs. (I forget what they call the L shaped moldings).
Keeping an Excel well maintained in the exterior body area (cleaning, inspecting and caulking) is a very time consuming experience. Most owners don't have what it takes, and it keeps the Service Center very busy with expensive repairs! Just sayin'.

Thanks Tom, I will check all those areas before the rains arrive. A trim screw is what started it all. It was discussed in a prior post, but after washing the rig water continued to drip from a screw in the trim of the dining side slide, upon removing the screw it was rusted. Put dicor self leveling caulk along the slide roof where it meets the trim and seemed to solve the problem. Now is time to take a look at the areas mentioned
It is time consuming and I usually end up paying someone to do it. Now I see why it is a "retirement" hobby!
I wont delete so others can see the importance of cleaning!
