Hi all!
There was a fire in the park due to a refrigerator problem a couple of weeks ago. So of course that has my fears running rampant again! I keep checking for recalls on our fridge, but can't find anything.
Two questions:
Does anyone know anything about a recall for the Norcold put in the 06 30RSO?
Has anyone added the halon fire extinguisher in a 30RSO? We looked at the refrigerator compartment and it doesn't look like there is enough room.

Thanks as always!!!

Check this web site.
Norcold Recall

Just to be safe, don't store chili peppers in your refrigerator. As well as flint and steel.

Here's how I installed my automatic extinguisher. Had to use "Eternabond" roofing tape, because I couldn't get a drill in the space to make a hole or add screws. Also, I was going to install it in the top of the vent space, near the roof, but I was afraid it would activate prematurely, from the natural heat from the burner plus the sun, as opposed to a fire.

We have one of the effected refrigerators in our '07 L35TKE. Here is the paragraph from the letter we received from Norcold.

"Dear RV owner:
Norcold Inc. has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 1200, 1201, 1210 and 1211 model gas/electric refrigerators with serial numbers from 315525 to 13088811, non consecutively, should be recalled. The refrigerator's serial number is located inside the fresh food compartment. These refrigerators may have cooling units with a cooling unit serial number between 700000 to 13085759. This is a new recall campaign to include all 1200, 1201 1210 and 1211 models."

We were notified yesterday by our local Norcold service center that the part for our rig is in. I will be taking it in this Tuesday for the fix. Supposed to only take 30 minutes or so.

redwing it is my understanding that the recall is not a 100% positive fix. Read this thread here: Norcold Fire & Possible Dometic Fires

I checked the Norcold web site again and still didn't see anything for our fridge. So I guess we're ok. But just to be safe I'll keep the flint and steel out. Can't agree to the chilli peppers though...sorry Bruce and Jenna!
Oh ... and we checked our spare tire and all looks good. I think we need to go back and read ALL of the posts out there just to find out all that we need to do!!!

All Norcolds are on recall even the two door ones back to 1997.

There have been several reports of frige fires after the fix. I recommend the installation of an extinguisher whether you are on the list or even if you've had yours fixed under the recall.

The majority of RV's are designed where you must pass the frige to exit, not a good thing if it's on fire.

Please remember that there are two sets of serial numbers under recall. The one that is on the inside of the door to the refrigerator, AND the cooling serial number in the outside compartment. You can call Norcold with both serial numbers and they will tell you for sure if your unit is on the recall list.

I don't know to many there were not on the recall list. Matter of fact, i don't know anyone, personally, that was not affected.

What is the brand and part number of the fire EXG that you installed in the Refrigerator compartment.
Nice installation.
