bigmichael. I've done a couple of these on the slide out windows in the BR. I had to remove the valance to gain access to the clips. The valance has 2 L shaped plastic brackets that have to be removed first to take off the valance. Mine were much harder to get to than what workhorse's shows in his pix. Most other windows can be done without taking off the valance. I simply used a long phillips screwdriver and stood on my head!!! The rest of the job is easy. Don't forget to remove the side curtains first. Just has Velcro to hold them. I didn't take pix on mine....sorry. And my new Excel has a different setup all together. HTHs rockin'

The valance is mounted on a slideout side wall. The ceiling has the same 1/2 inch slope the roof has....thus it only looks strange, but is level.

Thanks everyone for all of your help!

My DW walked over to the window this morning, pulled all the curtains off (which I now see Rockin has mentioned) were simply on with velcro. She then looked up and said "wouldn't it be these screws on these plastic thingys that are holding the valance on?"

I went over and looked at the screws that had been well hidden by the curtains. I then said "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME THOSE STUPID CURTAINS JUST PULLED COMPLETELY OFF WITH VELCRO!!"

In the infamous words of Rick Perry "oops".

Wouldn't you think after nearly 33 years together, I might have learned something about when to remain silent?

The good news is that I was smart enough to get the long bed pickup. And--it has a cover! I'm a big guy-but there will still be room to stretch out a little bit.

When I did mine I got a surprise.. NO NEED TO REMOVE THE VALANCE.

I found the shade was screwed in at the top with two screws, I removed them and the assembly came out.. I re-strung it and put it back. Never removed the valance or side thingies.

Yeah, but we are talking about a different brand of RV though. This is the Excel forum and we be talkin' Excel 5th wheels here. I bet there are as many styles of set up as there is brands of RVs! But thanks just the same. rockin'

Quick follow-up. It turned out with all the help on this forum, I finally got there.

Once the curtains were completely removed, found mine had the two screws rather than the clips. And, as mentioned, the screws could be removed without needing to mess with the valance at all.

Shade off, re-strung, and back up-all is good.

Thanks again everyone!

I have a 2003 Phaeton MH I removed one of the day/nights shades and it has six strings and foue springs. How to you restrings it. I seen pictures of 2 and 4 strings but not six, the shade is 65X35. Two of the springs our at the ends, and the other two are in the middle.

Any help

Ez5iron, checked my files on shade restringing....had only up to four strings. Did a Google search and wasn't able to fine any listing for 6.

Are you able to see the strings to determine there route and see if they relate to a 3 string just doubled or a pattern with a four string?
