I ordered the self leveling Dicor caulk from PPL and over caulked the 2 suspected leak spots. They were the new satellite receiver switch entry point and around the fantastic fan. Today is the first time it has rained since and there are no drips inside...what a surprise and a relief.

I added the new caulk on top of what was up there. Is that the correct procedure or should I have tried to remove all the caulk that was there already? Also, what about the annual recaulking of the roof. Do you all remove all the caulk that is up there and put down new or just cover over what is already there?

What you have done is just fine. You can remove old caulking if it is loose and can be pulled away. When I have resealed a roof, I have went right over the old. With it being "Self Leveling" it will find the cracks and reseal.
Hope this answers your question from our point.

Virg,

What IS you doing up on the roof again??? Practicing to be Santa? (Smileys not working, darn it) Sounds like your using the right stuff. You could use something called "self leveling". Virg, you're easy today!!! Just havin' some fun!
