My DW asked me the exact same thing!

From a security perspective, at least for my piece of mind, yes. If it deters someone from pilfering my pressure regulator, outdoor furniture, or whatever, I will recover the cost pretty quickly. From a utility point of view, when coming back to the rig after dark, I don't have to fumble for light switches or play musical keys. Part of the expense is the built in battery level monitoring so that the lights don't kill my batteries if I am boondocking. Of course, YMMV.
And another thought, you can use this installation method for any additional 12 volt outdoor lights or accessories.
