RV Park recommendations in Oregon?

I'm headed up to Eugene, OR to pick up the WC mid March and plan on taking it out in that area for a couple of days for a little shake down cruise. Any recommendations on RV parks within about a 30 minute driving radius of George Sutton RV? I was thinking about Fern Ridge Shores RV Park or Richardson Park. Both are on Fern Ridge Lake (on opposite sides of the lake) and neither has stellar reviews. Sutton RV recommended heading to the coast but looking at Google maps the highway seems very curving, meaning to me it is probably two lanes and mountainous. Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

Also, when I'm heading back home to the Central Coast in California I plan on stopping in Redding, CA since that's exactly halfway between Eugene and home. So far I'm considering Mountain Gate RV Park and JGW RV Park. The reviews seem pretty good for both parks, but first hand recommendations are always better. If anyone has any gouge on these two parks or another recommendation please let me know.

*Note: I will my dogs with me so a pet friendly RV park is a must.

Texas Tom, this is your neck of the woods so I know you gotta have some gouge!

I would stay at the lake, close to the dealer. Just in case.
Our first outing will be at a full hookup CG about 1/2 hour from home and the dealer.

FYI - Not to far south on I-5 is seven feathers casino near mile marker 99 and they have a very nice RV park. South of Redding (maybe near Redbluff) is a new park called Durango and it looks pretty nice. In or near Redding I have stayed at both Mountain Gate and JGW and both are nice. If you leave Eugene later than you wanted there is a nice state park at exit 55 on I-5.

Tim, we usually stay at the Elks Lodge in Eugene but I've heard good things about Premier.

We have stayed at 7 feathers in Canyonville which is an awesome park. With GS and the players card you get a nice reduced price. This doesn't sound like a place you be stopping at as it is only 97 miles south of Eugene.

I guess Premier also has a nice park in Redding.

OT....BTW make sure you have a few miles on that new truck to break in the rear end before you load up that great big WC on his back. Minimum 600 miles without the load is recommended for break in from GM and I approved that message!!!!! Just FYI rockin'

I have stayed at Mountain Gate and really liked it. They have some good sized pull throughs near the office that work quite well. Also, I really enjoyed the Mexican restaurant at the gas station when you come off I-5.

I have driven through the Premier park in Redding and decided not to stay. Very tight maneuvering and small sites, and over priced. Very casual and quiet, and good food.

Regarding driving to the coast from Eugene, I haven't done it for several years, but as I recall the road is along a river most the way (i.e., not mountainous) and I don't remember it being too curvy. I wouldn't hesitate using it.

Armitage Park is a very nice Lane county park. Easy to get to, easy sites.
Would also recommend River Bend Resort RV Sites On the bank of the Willamette River in very quiet location. The pool is outdoor so probably not year-round. Camp Freightliner was held here last August.
If you go to Harrisburg have lunch or Friday prime rib at The Gridiron.

The hwy to Florence winds but was comfortable with 40' + toad.

No worries Tom, got over 3,000 miles on it already! Already have gone to Utah and back. This thing sure does drive like a dream!

We stayed here Deerwood RV Park in Eugene and loved it. Beautiful setting and large spaces. I have driven Hwy 126 from Eugene to Florence and found it an easy drive. We are 39' plus the CRV.

Awesome, thanks y'all for the suggestions! Very helpful! According to PI our unit should be done the third week of this month. Hopefully it gets shipped to Oregon shortly after. Once Sutton is done with the PDI I'll head up there to pick it up.

I found a PDI checklist online that's very general but will certainly help in me going over everything with a fine tooth comb. This website has the PDI I found for download: The Pre Delivery Inspection | Toy Hauler Adventures

Does anyone have a checklist that they used or can recommend just so I can compare?

I want to make sure I take my time and go over EVERYTHING!

One of our favorite parks near Redding is Friendly RV in Weed CA. Beautiful view of Mount Shasta from it's foothills. Premier in Redding is also nice and agree it's a little tight but easily doable.

No suggestions for Eugene as we usually stop at Salem OR.

X2 pm Armitage County Park, Eugene, OR (Coburg). It is FHU with cable. Space are very wide and lots of ground space between sites. There are only 4 pull through sites, but the back in sites are very nice. Very large doggy park.

You must make reservations on-line (only) at least 2 days in advanced, otherwise it is hit and miss if they have a site when you show up. Once there, if you need to extend, you can ask the park host. He has a list and knows if anyone is coming in or if there is a site open. You would most likely have to move if you extend through the host. You can always extend on-line 2 days ahead of time.

Great park. Was $25 a night when we stayed there.

Many Irv2's use www.rvparkreviews.com as their source and also notify others of their findings...

I use that website and Woodall's, but oddly enough some of the above mentioned parks weren't listed or the ones that were didn't have much information. I asked so I could get first hand accounts on the parks I asked about in the OP or other ideas. Thanks for suggesting rvparkreviews.com though!

Drive to the OR ocean is nice enough. But when you get there, you face rain and cold and wind this time of the year. NG on the OR coast in the winter, unless you like to watch storms.

If you need a place for a night or two in the future near Sutton, check out free dry camping at the Valley River Center Mall. Nice park nearby, level, and security. Then use the City Dump at exit 8 of Beltline Rd.

'Nother beautiful park to the south is Emigrant Lake County Park outside of Ashland.

Highly rated solar installer in Springfield is AM Solar. Used them twice - couldn't be better.
