Most Dish, or Direct TV Techs have a wire finder that you attach to the end of the satellite cable. It lets off a tone that you can trace the wire. If you see a truck they might do it for free.

I have one and you can borrow it at any time, but being in Texas it might be a long haul. I can trace wires that are buried about three feet under ground it works great on trying to find wires on my sprinkler system, as well as wires in the walls. Just call some of the electricians and ask how much it would cost for them to find the wires location. Make sure they have a wire finder. They are a little expensive so not all electricians carry them.
Sounds like a "squirrelly deal" to me.

Really sounds like a good idea to me. rockin'

Thanks everybody! Guess we will just have to give it up and let somebody install it for us! Now Rockintom- as for Classics with a rubber roof. My little Excel might only be a Classic with a rubber roof but- I have a 2500 watt inverter, 4 batteries, on board Onan generator so I can be at home wherever I might be and fit just about anywhere! As a matter of fact we "camped" in a tent site in our little Classic in British Columbia this summer! And since it is so well outfitted and still small and maneuvarable (and easily towed by a 2011 2500 Chevy) we have decided it is here to stay- no trading for us!

Punk,

Guess you didn't notice the part about "I was just kiddin'"! Sounds like you got quite a rig there. We are a bunch of jokesters here.

We were in BC this summer too for a spell, in the Chilliwack area. Very nice and beautiful area.

Hope you get your satellite up OK. rockin'

Sorry guess I got a little defensive about my rig. What can I say I love my little home in wheels. And it was a great set up for our Alaska trip this past summer! And I do appreciate all the satellite info- although I will have to wait a little while so I can pay for the professional install. But the good thing is my contract here in Florida isn't up till April and the tripod is already set up at the moment so won't make too much of a difference at present.

Rockin' don't know 'bout that hippie utilities stuff. He once told me he's roughing it if the CG doesn't have a ballroom.

But I'm witcha, man. We dry camped our way up to Alaska and back last year. We found some of our best sites along the Alaska Highway.

We don't want to just go drilling holes in the roof so I was hoping maybe someone out there has a rig same as mine and could tell me where they might have the sticker located or if they have a satelllite and where it is at.Thank you! (Tired of lugging tripod and dish and setting it up!)

Just my 2 cents My 2007 35 flr was prewired for the sat ( at that time ) however I called the factory to comfirm that it was and they said yes. So off I went to install travlerHD sat dish. OOPs cable not compatable so I ran the cable along the roof drilled a hole from the inside to outside ran and caulked the entire cable and now I have great HD tv. Just gotta resolve the problem. Thanks for the info about how you ran your satellite. Not sure if we are brave enough to try that ourselves or not but good idea and something to think about. Thanks.
And I hear about the dry camping!! We found some awesome places just along the highway!! It was an amazing trip. We stayed in some provincial parks too in Canada and that was dry camping also. I love having the ability to get off the beaten path if we want to.We stayed in one place called Muncho Lake- that was amazing- and close to Laird Hot Springs which was also great!! So many beautiful sites- wish I could have been there for even longer!! But I have to work sometime to pay for this stuff!!!

I had the traveler professionally installed and think that may be the best way to go. I had it put on the back of roof and I really think one is better off with it on front as most often your backing into a spot which means into trees = no signal where the front end seems usally have a clearer view of the sky. The down sides to front mount is cables laid across roof to above entertainment area adherd with Dicor Self Leveling and you will lose a little overhead clearance for getting in shop or shelter, also consider if ever adding solar panels. Roof space can be valuable!

The price may be cheaper, but you may not be happy with it depending on which service you use and what level of service you want.

For example, if you are a DirecTV customer, you will not be able to view HD programming with a dome...ANY dome. That means SD service only, but you would have the advantage of only having to "see" one satellite, the 101.

If you are a Dish Network customer, you will be able to view HD programming; however, you'll have to toggle between the 3 satellites (110, 119, 129...unless you need the Eastern Arc satellites). That's fine if you only have one TV you view or don't have a DVR receiver. If you have two TVs and/or a DVR, you'll be stuck watching programming and/or recording on the same satellite since a dome only "sees" one satellite at a time. That means that you won't be able to watch different programming on each TV or watch and record on a DVR *IF* the two different programs are on two different satellites.

The only way I'd ever have a dome installed now is if I were a DirecTV customer who wasn't at all interested in HD programming...and figured I'd NEVER be interested in HD programming; otherwise, I'd spend the money to have a Winegard Trav'ler installed (which we are doing later this month, replacing the dome that came with our Excel).

Hi! We have a 2006 L30RSO, and just had the Trav'lrHDTV antenna installed. Since it is the Limited, it has the fiberglass roof, and the "Drill Here" sticker was still affixed. We had the local RV dealer install it, since they would know what they were doing. I would be concerned about the rubber roof holding up under the strain, and would question whether others have successfully done it. Both the antenna and rubber roof are expensive things to screw up, if ya know what I mean!
