I am looking for some help. We have a 2006 30RSO. We have decided not to trade as I talked about previously. Supposedly our Excel is prewired for roof mount satelliteperJack at Excel. At Excel Jack said there should have been a sticker on ceiling. No such luck for us. And they (the factory) have differing opinions of where the wiring is located on the roof. We don't want to just go drilling holes in the roof so I was hoping maybe someone out there has a rig same as mine and could tell me where they might have the sticker located or if they have a satelllite and where it is at.Thank you! (Tired of lugging tripod and dish and setting it up!)

Punk,

Guess your just havta find someone with a 06 RSO that still has the decal on the roof and take some measurements to find the cable location. On our 3 Excel rigs, we have had the decals and they are stuck tight and don't come off easy. Makes me wonder if yours were ever there. We don't have satellite so have very little experience with it!! rockin'

We have a Limited 33RLE. As can be seen from the photo our factory installed crank up Sat antenna is located on the curbside, somewhat off center to not be interferred with by the Air conditioner or the Living room ceiling vent. It's location was also determined by the 'over the air' antenna's location.

We do not use the Sat system even though the antenna is there. If we keep the Beast, we have considered upgrading to the Wingard Travler system.

The present system has a single coax routed to the Sat antenna and would not be compatable with the Travler....not enough coaxs and no power cable. So it would have to be rewired completely for the upgrade.

You didn't mention what system you are thinking of installing...?

If I remember correctly, don't believe PI prewired for the Travler in 2006? You might determine the coax and power requirements for your desired system and ask PI if they prewired those requirements in '06.

Might be you can install for it's best fit.

You might go up on the roof and see if there is a sticker up there if you have not already done that. The is the way it is on my 2010 Wild Cargo. My 2003 30' RGE did have a sticker on the ceiling. Sorry I can't help amy more than that.

Thanks everybody about the satellite info. And we have checked the roof- nothing there either. We are considering the traveler or maybe even just the wineguard mini max satellite (price is much cheaper!!) We had hoped to do it ourselves but not looking hopeful! Called Moriarty's but the 2 2006 they have there they found no sticker either so maybe they did not do it in the 06 classics.
Thanks,
Punkin

We have a 2006 Classic 30RSO. We have no sticker, and when we asked at the factory once when we were in for repairs, they weren't able to give us a satisfactory answer. The placement of Workhorse's antenna looks about where they said it should be.... Sorry we can't be any more help. We use a Qube and love it, by the way.

What about using a stud finder to see where the wire are from the roof side?

Finding the pre wire location may not be necessary if you are going to install a Winguard travel as you will still need to drill a hole in the roof to route the control wire for the dish control. The control wire for the pre wire is standard 4 conductor telephone wire and will not work with the Traver. I installed a traverl on my l33TKE and found he pre wire RG 6 coax but still had to drill the hole for the contol wire. My hole for the wire came out inside the over head cabinets and made for easy routing the cables inside of the entermant center.
The traveler works great, sure saves a lot of discussions about siting up a dish on a stand.

Us Squirrels are use to finding nuts, so it is real easy to locate the end of a cable. LOL LOL

Most Dish, or Direct TV Techs have a wire finder that you attach to the end of the satellite cable. It lets off a tone that you can trace the wire. If you see a truck they might do it for free.

I have one and you can borrow it at any time, but being in Texas it might be a long haul. I can trace wires that are buried about three feet under ground it works great on trying to find wires on my sprinkler system, as well as wires in the walls. Just call some of the electricians and ask how much it would cost for them to find the wires location. Make sure they have a wire finder. They are a little expensive so not all electricians carry them.
